Partying? Staying home? Drinking? Not Drinking? My husband made reservations a long ways back to a really nice romantic restaurant for us to have dinner at. I can't wait! We don't go there very often as it is so expensive, but, he felt we could splurge for this. YEA! He says he has a surprise for me. Hmmmmmm I also have a surprise for him! ( wink, wink ) Wishing everyone a safe night doing whatever and going wherever!

    Party!
We are going to a party. It is just a few friends getting together for some food, drinks

and laughs. We usually play cards or some games and laugh until our sides hurt. Happy New

    Year!

    The local and very pretty
The local and very pretty golf course is having a dinner dance, and we have reservations to go there with 2 other couples. It is only about 6 miles from the house, but we have decided to go by cab! We are getting one of those van cabs for all of us...I am not much of a drinker, though I do love my red wine, and neither is Reggie, but I sure want him to have the option to have too much if he wants to! Tomorrow I am going to try and find a pretty, festive top to wear. I avoided the malls during all of the pre-and post Christmas shopping madness and was successful~ I think 2 days before NYEve should be alright!

Have fun everyone! Be safe and ring in the New Year with Kindred Spirit Style!

    Vuurwerk (Fireworks)!!!
Last year, the dutch spent over 150 MILLION dollars (equvalent) for fireworks on the one special night. It's tradition, and MAN does it get LOUD!!!!

This is not the 'safe and sane' variety...it sounds like WWII is starting all over again!!! And the sky is lit with all sorts of rockets, and starbursts, and the ground shakes from the booms!

We stay home, and share a midnight meal with friends, and watch the neighbors, as well as our own fireworks....

A few years, it snowed, or the wind blew...two years ago, there was so much fog that nothing could be seen, so the police just turned a blind eye when all the arials were lit the next night (it's arrest time if caught lighting fireworks after 8am, New Year's day).

I will raise my glass to you all! Also, a dutch belief is that fireworks scare away all the bad demons from the year passing, and start a new year fresh...I am planning a large, long, loud string of fireworks for all of you, my sisters!

    Hugs, Kathi

    We are usually homebodies on
We are usually homebodies on New Years Eve, so this year is no exception. However, we are expecting my cousin and her husband from Shawnee Kansas to come by here on their way home from San Angelo, and they will spend the night. It is going to be a real push to try to stay awake until midnight (we are real party poopers), but probably with company being here we will at least hear the fireworks and bring in the new year. Hope every has fun, and stays safe this holiday weekend, and that 2010 brings us all health and happiness. Hugs.

We are going to a party with lots of food and drinks. I will have a few to ring in the New Year! We usually all sleep over and sit around in our jammies the next day and then eat some more, but i am not sure if we will sleep over this year. We are getting too old for that. But, there is supposed to be a big storm here for the New Year, snow, ice...etc. So we will see. On New Years, we may go to the Mummers Parade, i live in Philadelphia. Have a happy and save New Year!

Oh my goodness Kathi! What a bang! LOL Please add my name to one of your "pops" too and I will write your name with one of our sparklers. David and I have, since our first New Year's Eve together married,( will be 37 years in March 2010) gone outside and lit a sparkler and write our wishes in the air with the glowing sparks. It might sound silly, and, we might have been a wee bit "high" when we started this, but, it is now one of our traditions. LOL We use to go out with friends and party like there was no tomorrow, but, now we celebrate quietly together at home. We get lots of good food, jumbo shrimp cocktail, finger sandwiches, relishes, chippies and dippie, anything that sounds good to us. We have a few drinks, listen to some romantic music and dance the night away. This year will be so special for us as we have been thru so much. So, I am truly looking forward to being in the arms of the love of my life and saying goodbye to 2009 and welcoming a new and fresh 2010! Wishing all of you dear ones a very happy new year!

    Love, Jeanne ♥

    Yes to Fireworks!
We're heading out to the desert to do some bike riding, and there are always plenty of fireworks out there on New Year's Eve!

I will miss staying home and watching the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl, but we will have a good time, and as long as I get to spend New Year's with my hubby, I'm happy.

My only worry is that my hair might start falling out on our trip, and I really would rather not deal with that while I'm camping, but I have lots of warm hats anyway, so I'm sure I'll be fine.

    Happy New Year Everyone!!!

    Very quiet here
I'll be spending New Year's alone. No partying for me! On Christmas Eve Day I had my appointment for labs and it felt so good outside! My car died about the same time as surgery so I'm not driving. But I was out with a friend on the 24th. She took me for some very tame shopping, browsing at the local dollar store. I had to do some grocery shopping so we went to the local WalMart where I rode a scooter. After I got home and put away groceries, another friend brought by some KFC. I ate only 1 piece.

Later that night I started to feel the errors of my ways! The chicken purged itself and my body told me to sleep. I slept most of the next 2 days and finally today I feel somewhat normal. Much joking is being done of my being a real party animal, so I plan to see the New Year in horizontally!

It might be different if I didn't live alone but as it is, my health will be first on my list of things to take care of.

    Have fun for me!!!

    My Plans
Me and my boyfriend have rented a cabin for just us at our favorite lake... I am taking a gift basket full of goodies like godiva chocolates, cheese, crackers. It has a fireplace and we are bringing a bottle of champagne. He and I broke up about a month after my dx in May. His Dad had recently died and then my dx so neither of us could really be there for the other.. So we plan on putting this year behind us and move on to a new year full of hope and renewed strength in our relationship with each other...

    I love the wishes

    Jeanne
I love the wishes with sparklers. How beautiful and what a nice way to start the new year. And Kathi, wow, what fireworks. Put my name on a popper, please. Chen, a dinner dance with your best guy, how fun. There are lots of great things going on. Well, for the past several years, Den and I have been sound asleep when the New Year begins. This year is no exception. We used to party, years ago but now it is just a quiet evening and voila we wake up to a new year, a new beginning, a hopefully better year for all of us. So for those who have big plans or small plans, enjoy. And for those like me, have a good night's sleep. LOL

    What is New Years' Eve?
I will probably be in bed before Julia.
I will have a beer or two earlier in the evening.

They are calling for a major snow storm Friday into Saturday and then some snow showers Sunday. Hopefully I won't run out of power.

If travel is good on Sunday maybe Jake and I will go sledding since hardly any snow this school vacation.

    Two youngest grandchildren
Two youngest grandchildren are staying overnight with us while their parents go to a party.
My son has spent a few Christmases & New Years in Iraq, so I am just glad that he is home now & can go out with his wife to have some fun.

So, we will probably be watching DVDs & playing kid games on New Year's Eve.

    Our plans
We've got a few friends coming over for dinner. It is like a potluck. We set a theme for the meal and everyone brings something to go with it. This year it is Italian, so there will be lots of pasta with everything on or in it, garlic bread, salads, cheeses and lots and lots of wine. We play cards and listen to some good tunes. I love bringing in the New Year with good friends!

I try to stay awake to bring
I try to stay awake to bring in the New Year with **** Clark. My husband is usually snoring away at midnite. However we have done some of the things already mentioned. Neighbors used to get together to play Bunco and that was always fun. Our clubhouse usually has a party every year, and if I'm feeling up to it Hubby and I may just go to the party this year, the clubhouse is about 50 yards from our home. so driving is very safe. all depends on my reaction to my first taxol treatment I received yesterday. Normally with a/C I couldnt even get out of bed on Thursday and Friday following the infusion, so it all depends on how I react to Taxol. If I'm up to it we are going to party this New Years eve, if not I'll just relax and ring it in with **** clark and of course talk to my sons at my midnite.
