Today marks the second anniversary of the loss of my sister
My Sister Susan and what she means to me:
Two years ago today I lost my sister Susan to pancreatic cancer after she had successfully beaten cancer several times. Susan was the oldest of 5 children; she was also the most beautiful, funniest and most put together of all of us. Susan would light up a room with her presence, she was caring, giving and quite humorous all wrapped into one fantastic package. My sister loved Barbara Streisand, watching DVD’s while eating popcorn at home and candles (she had a ton of candles), cooking and the outdoors. She was a successful business owner, wonderfully loyal friend, amazing daughter, mother and dearly loved sister.
As we were growing up I was always impressed with how pretty she was, her hair was always well done, nails painted, clothes sharp and yet she loved to go fishing on the Delta (and was darned good at it), enjoyed camping and cutting a rug. She would host parties for large groups and I do mean host…she cooked all the food and it was always fabulous and set a table fit for royalty, she always made you feel special.
Susan survived breast cancer twice over a period of 15 years, each year she dedicated herself to raising funds to fight breast cancer during Relay for Life. She would sell fancy drinks, and light up toys which were a passion of hers. She was such a blessing in my life and I am glad she was my sister, glad God put her in my path, glad I got to grow up in her presence, glad I had 50 years with her, glad she was my sister (the last was worth repeating). I miss her dearly, but know I will see her on the other side someday. I dearly love you Susan and always, always will!

I know it's hard, I'm putting my arms around you...
But you are keeping her alive by remembering....it is the extreme act of love...
As you remember, I have suffered many losses this month, and am marking 3 years since my daughter's and ex-hubby's passing...I am trying to light the way, dear, sweet soul!
BIG hugs, Kathi0 -
A Beautiful Tribute, RE
I am so sorry you lost your beloved "big" sister, dear RE. Your tribute to her is truly beautiful. She was obviously a quite exceptional woman, which must run in your family. A fellow valiant warrior, too.
For those of us who never had the honor of getting to know her during her lifetime - your words are a special gift. Thank you, dear RE, for sharing your precious memories and feelings with us.
You and your family are close within my heart today.
Kindest regards,
Susan0 -

She was absolutely beautiful, just like you. It sounds like she taught you many things about compassion, love and caring. She would be so proud of you too. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about her. We always miss those we love but they are alive in our hearts and memories.

Thank you Kathi for you kind words, I do recall the losses you have suffered and I feel for you as it is never easy. However I agree that with time the memories grow sweeter and the light returns. You are a living example of how to go on living while loving the ones who have gone one before us.
Much Love,

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
You are all so kind and have touched me deeply with your thoughts. Susan was indeed a vibrant fun loving sister. I have been baking all day and laughing in my mind of memories of her and her many yummy meals. I will also be baking a favorite of hers, Texas Sheet cake.
Hugs to all,

RE, I am so sorry for your loss, and have heard you talk about your sister on the board for some time. She sounds like a wonderful woman, and certainly a good sister to you and your other siblings. My little Casey will share this anniversary with your sister, as they are going to turn off the respirator in about an hour....he isn't expected to breath on his own. We are heartbroken, but know that he will be in the peace and serenity of a more powerful being than us. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your sister today. I will always remember her as well. Rena, I think of you often. I am grateful that you share your sister with us; it's sharing more of yourself, too. I am guessing that you understate the consequences of your own breast cancer, and because I believe that, you are even more of a hero to me. xoxoxo LynnRE said:HUGS*HUGS*HUGS*

Judy thank you for your kind words in regards to my sister. F rom what you penned to me it seemslittle Casey will be leaving this world soon and I am so sorry for that, but I believe as I think you do that he will be in the Lords hands and there are no better hands than those. I am sure little Casey will be well cared for until you meet again. There is a passage in the bible I often think of during these times it is Genesis 31:49
The Lord keep watch between
Me and Thee while we are
Absent one from the other.
Genesis 31:40
With Little Casey this too came to mind:
For He Shall Give His Angels Charge Over Thee to Keep Thee In All Ways. Psalm 91:11
Little Casey is in God's hands, I will lift you all in prayer as my heart certainly aches for you.
Much Love,
Rena

I apologize for my sentiments being a day late, but, I loved your tribute to your sweet sister. Sisters are just "the best", aren't they? I don't know what I would do without my older sister. She means the world to me as yours did to you. Thanks for sharing this with all of us Re.
