Similar situation
Hi Patti,
Chemo doesn't work for me and no doctor seems to know what to do, so we decided to try TheraSpheres (similar to SirSpheres). I had the procedure about 1 month ago and since then my pain has diminished considerably and I'm able to eat and keep down solid food. I'm actually now gaining some sorely needed weight.
If you have any questions, PM me.
Good Luck,

My sister and I met with an Interventional Radiologist and he thought she only needed to miss one cycle of Avastin. Now, i could be wrong, but I am pretty sure it was just one cycle, she cycles every two weeks, so that would only be one month. Maybe you can ask. Good luck with the insurance portion. We are still fighting ours to get approval, it was denied as "experimental" by Blue Cross of CA. Now it's in the appeals process and there is no way we could afford to pay for it on our own. I'm told it is ridiculously expensive.0 -

Dr. york said that by standards and safety we needed to wait two months off of Avastan. This procedure is approved by the FDA so no way it should be looked at as experimental surgery (procedure) I have to go through medicaid and not sure what they will say. I am on Medicaid spindown so, I may have a deductable to pay not sure yet. Wish me luck and keep up the prayers.I hope you get your procedure done, it is very expensive! God Bless, Patti0 -

I'm' glad they're going to try something for you! I'm interested in this procedure, but will wait when I can afford the opinions, and hear how it has worked for you! I can't wait to hear about it, and hope it just does you well!! Best Wishes!!

Sir-spheres (Patti)
Patti, Just read your post and wanted to wish you great success. I had the procedure 5 years ago and it has given me not only hope, but much appreciated time and quality of life. I wouldn't be here had it not been for these little magic beads. If I can answer any questions or help in any way, please don't hesitate to let me know. You can also find more information at www.beatlivertumors.org and read stories from others. Good luck! Suzanne0 -

I am having the work up for these tomorrow and the "DRY RUN" on wednesday. They are telling me it is a curative treatment, and there has been a lot of possitive outcomes. It is very interesting, and scary at the same time!!

Hey Kathy, I am taking cpt11unknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator
Hey Kathy, I am taking cpt11 with avastan now had one treatment last week. I had one visit with the Interventional Radiologist while I was on Folfox and he said that as long as that was working to keep on with it, but if it failed to come back and talk with him regarding Sir Spheres. So, that is what I did and he decided I was a good candidate but still need to qualify. Patti0
