Big "D" is back
I also noticed I have welts on my head. They hurt and itch a lot. Has any one else had this? Is it another side effect of the Chemo or could I be having an algeric reaction? I will have to call onc tomorrow and see what he says.

I can't help you much
I can't help you much because I'm not on chemo but I'm sorry that your problem is back. I do have that every once in awhile. I have IBS, and seems like it hits and I can't seem to figure out what irritates it. I'm sure you drinking tons of liquids. Hope everything goes away and quickly. Let us know how you're doing.0 -

Hi Donna
Sorry that you are having so many problems. The welts on your head are probably an alergic reaction to the chemo. I had that a couple of times except mine was on my hands and arms. Itched really bad. I would call dr and just tell them what is going on. I didn't have trouble with the big "D".Sorry can't help you there.
Take care and keep hydrated

yes you can take benefiber with diahrea and constipation. Talk to a dietician they seem to have good ideas ask to see a GI doc too. the dietician told me I need more soluable fiber what is your diet like? I am slowly adding that like oatmeal. I am nervous to go the other way. also ask them to check your electrolytes with all the D Your potassium could be low. My GI doc put me on a low residual diet dont know how much it helped, also have them check a stool culture.0 -

Trying to stick mostly with BRAT Diet. Drinking lots of Gatorade, water and decaffinated tea. Lomotal worked from 945am yesterday until 0530pm today. My potassium was low when they checked my blood on Wed. Will try the Benefiber tomorrow. I have already had 2 stool cultures done.
Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs and a slice of white toast
Snack - Yogurt or banana
Lunch - Chix Noodle or Chix Rice Soup
Snack - 2 Pretzel Rods or applesauce
Dinner - Chix Pot Pie or more soup
Trying to throw in some real food wherever I can.

yes my big D is back for three days and my butt is going to fall off. nothing gets me more depressed than the pain. I take oxycodone and 2 butt creams and lots of baths and Immodium I dont eat much. today I ordered a clear liquid drink, that has protein in it on line.I had it when I was hospitalized in oct I tried boost I think it makes it worse. What you ate is what I attain to eat. today I had toast and soup, tried a little rice. I do try to get all the fluid in, when I feel like this it is a struggle. I have a fissure so i never know what to do as I am afraid of getting constipated because of the fissure. if not for this i would have done very well.0 -

I really do know how you feel. My chemo was finally stopped because of the big D. I was upset, but understood. I lived in Depends for ages!!! Taking meds for this can also make you constipated and that is the last thing you need. I hope it sorts itself out...thinking of you.0 -
Hey Donna

Hey Donna
Been there! During my chemo I'd have to pull over every ten minutes at different fast food joints to use the bathroom, just trying to get back and forth to appointments! I was popping immodium 2 0r 3 times a day. It was usually severe just the week after chemo when I'd have to go in for my blood tests. Then , while still bad, it was manageable the rest of the time.I never had to stop chemo for it though, so it may be a matter of which chemo cocktail you are on. I was on TAC. And it will stop when your chemo is over, so try to hang in there sister.

The only thing that has come close to working for me is Lomotal. The Onc has me taking 2 pills every 4 hours. It hasn't stopped the "D" but has slowed it down to where I only have it 2 to 3 times a day. I am trying to eat more normal food now and see how my system tollerates it.
Sending hugs and prayers your way.

went to a colorectal surgeon today for a second opinion, she recommends surgery between chemo and rads. feels I will be in better shape and my onc would want me to finish chemo first. I n one way its good to get something definative in another its one more thing. One day a t a time.0 -

What type of surgery are you having? Is this for the fissure? I think I missed something. I know you were having horrible issues with the Big D but when did the colorectal surgeon come into play. I hope that all turns out well in the end (no pun intended). Good thoughts and prayers are beaming out to you.
