OK, so, something is going on with my hormones. This may be TMI, but I can feel my ovaries slowly cranking back up. The evidence of this is my suddenly brightened mood, as though a veil has been lifted, and the abrupt decline of hot flashes. It's like, it happened in one day. Very weird, but welcome. Sooo, to celebrate:

Tonight, Simon and I will be going to dinner at an Italian restaurant in Arlington and then seeing "An Education" at the local independent movie theater.

Tomorrow, I have the usual personal training. Saturday evening we'll be visiting an old friend from law school, her husband, and their toddler at their house. We'll probably order food and just catch up. I haven't really spoken to her since my diagnosis last year.

Sunday will be a day to get things together, cook, clean, and do some creative things. I've really started moving toward film school again. Journaling helps so much. I've been going back and forth about whether I want to go back and then I journaled about it and within 3 days I had called the director of the program and requested a meeting. We're talking in person next week. So excited. I am moving toward my dreams again.

So, ladies, I absolutely have to know: what are YOUR weekend plans??!

    Quiet weekend
I head up to the hospital in 45 min to begin my chemo journey. "My [chemo bag is] packed and I'm ready to go"
My daughter and her boyfriend (who also accompanied us for the surgery - an awesome man/real keeper) are taking me and staying through the entire process.
I'm spending the weekend at their house (long story-a future thread-probably to vent)so we'll pick up everything from my room at son's house
Stop at COSTCO to get a rotessiere chicken. Nice meal of mashed taters and a soft veggie
Tomorrow I'll be the director and my daughter will learn my secret chx noodle soup recipe (I'll post it sometime)
Sunday, watch football with them, sleep, play scrabble, sleep, work on earrings, sleep. Most importantly sleep.
Monday AM - Neulasta shot and then back to the above routine with different menus.
My real weekend started last night with a full-body massage from my daughter who says this will be my pre-chemo treatment each session. Such a gal!!
    Everyone have a great weekend.
Think of Lori and I today as we begin this walk through chemo land together. Lola

    You better sit down, I
You better sit down, I actually have plans. tonight we are going to a bar/sandwich place to eat but also hear a guy play and sing. I don't know what he plays as he knows my husband not me. So I'm getting out of the house! And don't have to cook! And don't have to cook but still eat it at home! (This might confuse you but we usually get take out and bring it home to eat.)

Dog won't like it tho. she'll have to stay home. :(

    Nothing much myself
Just going to try to sleep in, get to a yoga class, and make some notes to prepare for my first visit with my onco on Tuesday.

    I did want to say:

-Congratulations Mimi on getting back on track with your dreams. What an inspiration for those of us with our lives on hold right now.

-I'll be thinking of you Lola and your daughter (who sounds just as wonderful as you) today as you go through your first chemo. It sounds like you have it well planned out to take good care of yourself

-Way to go Marcia on getting out of the house! Your puppy will forgive you no doubt and I hope you have a wonderful evening.

    Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!!

    Whoo Hoo!!
That sounds like a lot of fun, Marcia. And your doggy will forgive you. It'll give her a chance to miss you and then snuggle up extra hard when you get home. I hope you have a great time.

    I actually have plans this
I actually have plans this weekend as well. My daughter, the insanely intense, intelligent, all-powerful 10-year-old is testing for her black belt this Saturday/Sunday. The test is Saturday, 9-5; Sunday 9-12. She has been working toward this goal for the past 4 years and I can't believe the day is here for her to get her black belt...to think it all started with the movie Mulan. she's already signed up to go the distance for her second degree black belt. The kid blows me away.

Congratulations Mimi on pursuing your dreams! I'm so happy for you. I have also rekindled my first love, painting. I've started off with a simple goal to work up my "artistic muscles" by making paintings for my children's rooms. Once I'm satisfied with those (pleasing them is easy) then I am moving on to what I really want to do. It's been way too long since I created any artwork and I'm oddly peaceful and excited at the same time.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

My weekend is an unknown at this point. I'm sitting in the infusion room getting my first round of chemo right now. . . so far so good! I might go to a play at a theater tomorrow if I'm up to it! Otherwise, I'm laying low - just seeing how this all is going to affect me! Lola - so far it is not bad at all. We'll see how the afternoon goes!

    Enjoy your plans all!

    A kid waiting for Santa,
A kid waiting for Santa, that's me this weekend. My granddaughter Brooke (8 months) will be spending 24 hours with us before she and her mom and dad head back to NC on Monday where they now live. Her photo is under my expressions. My son is in S. Florida for business, and brought his wife and Brooke along. He and the fam will drive up Sunday morning to see us. I cant wait. I'm feeling better, and thats just wonderful. I may not be able to hold her, but I can sure immerse myself in all her cute little antics. I'm even planning to cook a nice Sunday dinner, roast beef, gravy, mashed potatos, green beans and salad. Plus I have those choc cookies I baked today. July was the last time I saw them, right after my first surgery. I'm elated.

I am actually going to have the entire house all to myself from late tonight to early Sunday a.m.!!!! Except for the animals...I'm so excited! Don't know just yet what I'm going to do with myself other than sneak out & go garage saleing in the morning('spose to stay off my feet) & watch Pelham 123. John Travolta is my stud muffin :-) Hmm....guess we will both be doing the same thing!

    My weekend started a bit
My weekend started a bit early~ last night my niece/daughter and I went to see the stand up comic Sinbad here in town. OMG~ we laughed till we cried and then we laughed some more! He is soooo flippin funny and is topical and hilarious wihtout ever ever cussing or using vernacular for body parts. We had the pleasure of being invited backstage after the show to meet and laugh with him. So so so much fun! LOL

This afternoon my niece/daughter and I went out to lunch and sipped a glass of wine while having grilled cajun shrimp skewers, afterwhich we went for mani-pedis.

But tomorrow morning is my BIG EVENT~ I am doing my 2nd half marathon...wish me luck, everyone! The weather has been cool and breezy in the mornings; I am hoping tomorrow is the same. After the marathon Reggie and I are going to the official unveiling of a year long project...some of our artist friends ( native americans) were commissioned to make a sidewalk mosaic depicting the history of the Tribe. It has been a collaborative labor of love and we are anxious to see the end result.

I am soo proud of you Mimi~following your heart and your dreams. As well you should!

So glad you got some great laughs in today. That really is the best medicine, isn't it?

And I wanted to wish you the best tomorrow on your half marathon. I'm so impressed with anyone that can do that kind of event! And I hope your artistic unveiling is all that you hope it will be.

    Have a wonderful time!

I didn't get my computer out at the chemo center but as with you, everything went smoothly. Now to see which if any s/e shows up first. Just got home to pick up the stuff that goes to my daughter's house. Thinking about you. Will post more later today. Lola

    So exciting on so many

    Mimi
So exciting on so many levels. Ovaries coming back is great. Goodbye hot flashes. Good visits planned with old friends, wonderful. But the biggy is the returning to something that you are obviously passionate about. Film school, how marvelous. I don't know if it is true with you, but when I first had cancer I felt like why bother planning a future. It seemed so bleak. Then as I progressed through my treatments, I began to see that there was hope but still wasn't excited about much. It took some time and I don't remember exactly when it kicked in that I had a future, each day was a piece of it. And when my daughter married and had her children I saw how fulfilling my life was. I have a great hubby, great daughter, great SIL, and postively beautiful grandchildren. I realized that being a grandma was a dream for me and I had them. It's when I knew that I would fight this disease with all my being and that I would try my best to cherish each day. So maybe by the journaling (isn't it a great release) you have set your heart and mind free (as much as we can) of this beast and know that you have a future and you want to fill it with all of your talent. It's like reaching the peak of a huge mountain and seeing the incredible view and knowing that the climb down will be gentler than the climb up. So happy you are going to fulfill this dream. Keep us posted. And when you accept the academy award remember to say all our names.

Sending out vibes for a cool and breezy day for a run
Chen - wish you the best of luck on your 2nd 1/2 marathon. I can't wait to follow those footsteps. Of course I need to break the 200# mark before I'm even ready for a 1/4 walking marathon. LOL But someday I'll get there. Sending you fleet feet and all that stamina you'll need. Post results. We're cheering for you. Lola
