POOH, No Liver Surgery, EMERGENCY SURGERY INSTEAD!!!!,
thanks for all your kind words,
story was constpated since sept 19 th, as of monday 28 no movement, had to have emergency surgery and got a temp colonsmoy(mispelled). I have had a hurrendouse time as you can relate, still in hospital until i pass pooh or some sort of sold into my bag, I have been running marathons in here and still no product, i was put on full liqiuds today, wish me luck i want to go home.
Also special note to all that had surgery last week or who are having it this week, i know what your going thru and i pray you all are doing well, . I finally got a cumputer in here and i am so happy to beable to read and write you all back.

I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. You must have been in terrible pain to be constipated that long. I'm surprised that they let you wait that long before they did anything. A colostomy will be a new normal for you, but it sounds like they are planning on doing a reversal. This will give you time to heal. Just keep walking and even though you hurt, it will wake your bowels up. They tend to go to sleep with any type of surgery and especially when you had done what you did. Actually, when I had my ileostomy and I couldn't get things moving either, they finally said they were going to give me solids because that also can wake the bowels up and sure enough the next day it started and has stopped

Thanks, What do you mean has stopped? also how long will the swelling last i look pregers,
And i was really hoping to loose mega weight and now i find out they have been giving me sugar water in my IV, those sneaky devils>>>
I was wondering how come i was able to go so long with no nurishment!!!

When I mean it hasn't stopped, I mean my pouch filling up. An ileostomy is different in that it is more watery and tends to keep productive because it is using the small bowel and most things tend to go right through. So if I drink a lot of water, it will come out shortly after. Water doesn't get absorbed so much in the small bowel but mostly in the large bowel which takes most of the liquid out of your (for lack of a better word) poop. The swelling in your stomach takes a couple months to go down. Don't be alarmed, you just had major surgery and there is a lot of swelling. I actually went about 10 days without hardly eating anything. It's surprising how your body deals with lack of food. I lost about 16 pounds after surgery. You need the IV to keep your body hydrated which is really important. Hope you feel better soon and you start producing something LOL.

Glad you are "dialed in" at the hospital and can read the posts
So sorry you running a marathon there trying to get "things" moving along...I was in the hospital during my bowel resection the 1st time for 13 days - went home 3 days - went to ER with a twisted bowel and spent another 9 days there, so I understand what you are feeling.
For the 1st time in my life, I actually felt safer in the hospital then - I'm a guy who likes his house, but wanted to stay at the hospital instead - my whole world shrank to become that room and the hallway I walked - TV kept me connected, but looking back it was a weird experience.
I remember my wife driving me home on the highway and people were whizzing by it felt like the world was spinning and everything looked "high speed" to me. It was amazing how one can adapt to their environments.
Anyway, here's hoping that you can go home soon - so sorry you've had to endure this. We're all pulling for you.

I went through this with my dad last Jan but I do see recovery for you comming up. I think he was in a bit harder state so I understand the pain with surgery. But thank goodness you will be able to eat more foods again, with less troubles. And the pain will subside.. thank goodness...
Take care. I have so many recipes for easier digestion I am thinking about writting a new cookbook specifically geared towards colon cancer. Please let me know if I can help. I cooked so much for my dad. I think I have a bit of an idea what the colon dragon subsides with, and I know its needs and wants can change evey 5 hours. What worked at lunch, won't by supper. Its a dragon, that needs to be supressed.

Gas is a good sign, it means things are kicking back in. The hospital is the only place I've been where they want you to fart!

I sounds like you are well on your way. When I was in the hospital the nurses mentioned that I needed to walk the halls, but I also needed to get up and move at shorter distances. They said the bowel responds well to getting up and moving several times a day, so I was like a Jack in the Box, get up and do a few things of little importance and then back to bed. Once I started all that everything started moving. I did not have a colostomy but I would think all would work similarly inspite of output(?).
Phil is right the hospital people like to know about all output things even at 3am!

I'm in the hospital with an obstruction. They just removed the NG tube and I will start with liquid meals. As soon as I get done eating it's up to do some laps around the 4th floor for me to get things moving. I won't be able to leave either until I pass gas and have a BM. I will pray for you and am sending good "juju" as Craig would say your way.
