chemo again
Well it looks like **** will be starting Folfiri plus Avastin in the very near future. The cancer is in 1 lymph node but the node is in a different place than the original site. So it is a metastisis. This is hard news. Hard to think of going through this again. Hard for **** to be off work for another year. But, we will go on. We will do this. We will be strong. We will find joy in our days. We will be grateful for our blessings. (Trust me, we will get mad, frustrated and sad too but I don't want to focus on that. )
Thanks for everything. Here we go again.
Aloha,
Kathleen

I understand
Dear Kathleen
With the original cancer + 2 recurrences in just over 5+ years, I for one most certainly understand yours and ****'s feelings.
Emotions are boiling inside me too this week as I've met with my onc and surgeon again just a couple of days ago...
I'm going to open a post about it and other things too, 'cause you know I got alot to say...please look for it around Sunday afternoon or early evening, I would appreciate it - you might get something out of it.
Is **** unable to work during his treatments? I ask because I've always had to work through my treatments of Folfox, Avastin, and Xeloda. I just can't lose my job. When surgery time rolls around, I do get to be off from work while I'm out on disability recovering.
We have not talked a whole lot...I've replied to your posts and saw where you posted to one of mine...I am very concerned for both of you - I look forward to getting to know you both more as the time passes.
I'm not everybody's cup of tea, but I do care about you and the rest of this amazing group of people!
Will be thinking about you both in the Aloha state
All the best - Craig0 -
Dear Ones,
So so sorry to
Dear Ones,
So so sorry to hear that you have to go thru this yet again. My husband and I will cover you with prayers, asking Our Dear Lord for healing, comfort, peace, strength, wisdom for your doctors and all your other needs. Draw close to one another and find comfort and strength. I wish I had some words of wisdom that would make you feel better. Just know that you are a wonderful couple and you can do this together. Yes, you will get mad, sad and all those other things and that's ok too. You just let it all out. You will be and are strong.
Blessings to you and your family,
Debbie (gramma)0 -

I am so so sorry you are going to have to go through this again. At the beginning of a re-occurence it is so difficult. It must feel like a mountain right now....
So you get on the path, you know how to do it. I know the pair of you will move ahead with strength and determination.
All very best love,

I'm sorry you're facing this again. My husband always says that chemo isn't a bad thing. It means they still have something to fight it. Prayers. Fay0

...In the road! Dear Sweet friends, you will get through this, you done it before, and you'll do it again, I know you can do it. I know what a shame it is for it to come back, that really sucks, but we're rooting for you, and you gotta do what it takes to fight this stupid cancer, I wish you luck with it, and know we are all here for you, for any kind of support!

Aloha Everyone
Aloha to all our friends,
Thank you for your support and encouragement. After the first week of feeling like we had been kicked in the stomach (again) we are finding our footing. Neighbors and friends are rallying around us. Dinners are being set up again as I am back to work full time after summer break. We even have a friend who is coming over in a few minutes to watch Katie (our daughter who has epilepsy and autism) so I can go to church with ****. We go to a little church (100 people) and our pastor plays amazing hard rock electric guitar and surfs big waves. He and **** are real good friends, so it is a good place of community for us. I'm sitting in my PJ's so I better get going. I will pray for all of you today. You are priceless!
Aloha,

Thoughts and Prayers
You both are in my thoughts and prayers as you fight this battle. Hopefully, this round will get it all and **** can move forward. You both are so strong through all of this. Sounds like you have wonderful neighbors who are there to support you which is encouraging.

Kathleen,
So glad that you have such a good support system around you with friends, neighbors and your church. I had to write because I was curious what the name of your pastor is? We have some old church friends that have a small church in Hawaii, and your pastor sounds a lot like this guy we know - he rocks the guitar & loves surfing! I'm trying to remember his name... I want to say Archie?
Anyway, praying for your husband, for total healing and for the peace of God to touch your whole family.

Just happy to be here!!!
Don't give up HOPE. That is all we have! My sister is also on her second chemo treatment of the same regime. They also found it in a lymph node in a new place. This can be so hard, but as Phil said, this is just part of the course for them to get you to a place where they can do another treatment. All my best for this second round. I love Hawaii.

Hi Kathleen
my name is Karyn, My husband and I just found out my cancer has spread to spine and lungs. I did still have it in the lymph nodes. But it is devastating to hear it has spread AGAIN! Unfortunately my husband and I know what you both are going through. And, It sure is a kick in the gut! I started radiation 10 treatments, then back on xeloda, olyaplatin and avastin. I, like you am a VERY positive person, but I am very disappointed right now, I know WE have a long road ahead of us again. I, also have a VERY supportive family. What's bothering me now, is I was able to work with my other treatments, I think it kept my sanity! With it in the bone, I have alot of pain. I don't think I will be able to work right now either. I wanted to let you know there are other young couples out there dealing with the same thing. I think of everyone on this site sooooo often. my prayers are here for everyone!

I just wanted to comment on the going to church. My husband and I have also found great support from our small church family. Yesterday I let them know that we are meeting with Hospice this week. The outpouring of love and support for both of us was so uplifting not to mention the strength we gain from the service. We are blessed to have this part of our support system. Fay0
