    You guys are so sweet!
So the bone scan ended up as a whole body scan. I had the injection and then promptly took a cab to a fancy restaurant and had a crabcake sandwich and 3 bloody marys. yes, you heard me right. I basically went nuts. When I got back for my scan, I talked up the technician (who wouldn't after that 3 drinks) and MADE him tell me what he saw. He said that as far as he could see, my bone scan was totally normal, including my hips!!! Of course, this is not the final word. But, he saw nothing light up on his end. I had a crying breakdown and thought about all I wanted to do in my life. Thank you all for supporting me. I love you.

I have been thinking about you!
I hope you get definite news soon..but he would never have told you that if he was not sure.

You are right about deciding what you really want from life. OH went to his oncologist today. When he was diagnosed with his second cancer in 1993..a vary rare form..he was given 3 years at the most. His lab work was perfect today..and he climbed Mt Whitney last week.

    Thinking of you Mimi. Pat

    Thank you, Sausage
Pat, your stories of your husband have helped me through before, and they are today as well. I feel as though I have a new lease on life and should not waste these years.

I meant to say that I feel very close to you, too. Thank you for all the support.

Mimi, I know you are anxious
Memi, I know you are anxious to get the "official word", but even the word of the technician sometimes makes us feel so much better. They are looking at these things every day, and surely they are able to give some intelligent information back to the patient. I will keep my fingers crossed that the same comes from the final report. Please do consider the supplement I talked about in my previous post. It is called MSM, and I purchased mine through www.bio-alternatives.com. The powder is mixed with orange juice, and taken 1/4 teaspoon twice a day. My hip completely stopped hurting after about four days, and hasn't bothered me in about two months. Worth a try. You can read all about MSM on the internet, and there are no side effects. Good luck. See you guys next week. Hugs,

    Judy

    Mimi

    Yea!
Mimi, I just got my internet connection back. So happy and relieved for you! I agree with Judy that the techs know when there's cancer or not. And, the tech you spoke to would not have said anything if he were not absolutely certain nothing lit up.

So, now your first post-treatment test is over with. Next time, maybe only 2 Bloody Marys will be needed:-) (Keep chatting up the techs, though.)

Pat, I share Mimi's respect and gratitude for you and your sharing your and your husband's experiences. No way to say it better than Mimi did.

    Good news Mimi
I know the techs are not supposed to tell you anything, and if he saw something out of the ordinary, he wouldn't have said anything at all. So I am going with final word. Glad you talked to the tech, I always did, they will give you as much info as they can, and it does help relieve the tension.
take care and let us know when you get your final clear!

Your 3 Bloody Mary's=1 xanax reminds me of something my Dad once wrote:

    "2 Pints makes one Cavort!"

He was just so darned clever, wasn't he???

It sounds that your day went
It sounds that your day went well, but I have a question! I have only had bone density tests and MRI's with contrast mediums, so your body scan was unfamiliar to me. Especially having the injection and "promptly" taking a cab to eat and imbibe BEFORE the procedure. What is the injection, and is it generally given with a few hours inbetween it and the scan?

I think being a tech must be so hard~ all of the mammos, x-rays, MRIs, scans, etc and you just know that they know...I love it when they can bring themselves to encourage us and help us not to worry. It would seem that you had such a tech~ and that you breathed a big sigh of relief! YAY YAY YAY!!!!!!

Yes, sweetie, you do get to make Life Plans, and get busy with the business of doing not just the things you have always wanted to do, but untold things you have never even thought of, but will!

    HUgs,
    Chen♥
