Kind of worried
Last Wed. I started chemo, Thurs. I got a call from Dr. T's nurse that the PET scan showed a mass along my right jaw bone (hadn't shown on bone scan). I haven't talked to Dr. T but have an appt with him next Wed. before chemo. They made an appt. with an ENT Dr. for me for the 14th.
Reason I'm worried is that I've been told for years that because I had had radiation to my throat (1948) when my tonsils were taken out at 1 1/2 y/o that could predispose me in later years to thyroid or throat cancer.

sorry to hear this, Rague
But don't jump the gun just yet, if that's possible. The mass could be many things that are NOT cancer. Could you maybe move the appointment with the ent up, so you won't have too much time to worry? IF it does turn out to be thyroid cancer, know that this is one of the most "cureable" cancers out there. Don't mean to make light of your concerns. When we've already been diagnosed, this kind of thing is terrifying, but you will get through this. I am rooting for a totally benign mass, which is very likely.

I agree with Mimi. Don't assume the worst. Try to think positive. I know that is easy to say, but, it will help you. I hope you can get your appointment moved up too. Waiting is awful. I wish you the best and will keep you in my prayers. Please keep us posted!

I, too, agree that the waiting is the hard part. But, please don't worry until you have something to be concerned about. It could be benign as others have also said. Just for your sanity I would also try to move up the appointment. Take one day at a time!0 -
Mimi is right
listen to Mimi and try not to worry I now how hard the wait can be, but try to do things you enjoy and keep your mind off things and think positive. If you need a prescription for anxiety, let your Onc.know. They helped me when I would become overly anxious. I will be keeping you in my prayers. and will be waiting forgod news on the 14th.

And seriously, the good news
And seriously, the good news is that your Drs are on top of things, keeping watch-care over you and making sure that No Matter What "it" is, it will be treated post-haste. Benign mass, scar tissue, unexplained swelling, or if even you-know-what- thankfully this isn't 1948, and you will be well and healthy!!!!! How much worse things would be if your Drs didn't look at you as a whole person, but just as a breast.
Of course you are anxious, any of us would be. But TRY and exhale, and remember you are surrounded not just by an amazing medical team, but by all of your Kindred Pink Spirits here on the boards. You are now not just receiving medical care, but you have the best wishes, positive thoughts and prayers of more than you'll ever know!
Hugs,

so sorry to hear ...
I had thryoid cancer 25 years ago in my late teen's. The thyroid organ is a self containing organ. Very rarely does cancer spread. Please note that a mass does NOT mean cancer.
I would call the ENT doctor every few days, to see if you can get in. Waiting is the hardest part of my journey thusfar.
Please take care and check to see if you can get in earlier ..

The ENT Dr is out of town
The ENT Dr is out of town and the earliest appt possible with him is on the 14th. He is the one that Dr. T. wants me to see so I'll wait for him. I see Dr. T. on Wed. before chemo so I'll find out more then.
Thank you all for your prayers/thoughts - they do help.
