I'm so sorry
Pat ... I am so sorry about all of this. I wish I had some magic words that would fix everything ...but I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and hope this all works out soon so you can get some peace of mind. You don't need any more stress ... you need to focus on your health. So ... take care ... and I'm sure someone will jump in here soon with some real suggestions for you.
Hang in there ... and big hugs.

Pat, I also am so sorry
Pat, I also am so sorry about the troubles you're having on top of bc. As far as the PET scan, it sounded like the second call was to help arrange coverage for the test? Also, your doctor may be able to help. Let him/her know of your financial need. Most hospitals or centers will have patient advocates. Call the ACS as well. The Susan B. Komen foundation should also have online info.
Other posters here can also give you specific information. I was just reading a post with contact information for help with medical bills. I wish I could remember the specific thread name. The person who posted it may see your post and repeat the info.
In any case, there is help for your medical care. You won't be denied treatment for cancer. You should hear from others on the board with similar experiences.
I wish I could make things right for you. I will be hoping for the best for you.0 -

I am so sorry that this is all happening and at the same time. Have you been to the ACS to see what assistance they can be? My suggestion would be to try and deal with one thing at a time. Make a priority list of what you consider the most important. It might help you to do what you need to get these tests etc. WHile the possibility of your ex husband having cancer is bad, you need to focus on you. Another suggestion might be to sit down with the hubby and ask him what frightens Him the most. And how he feels he can help you through this? Some husband have a hard time talking and some do walk. It doesn't help knowing that the walkers are jerks because we have invested years in these relationships and it was supposed to be better or worse, sickness and health. Didn't some of them realize that was a promise? Again, I am so sorry. Vent to us and I am sure others will chime in with advice, hopefully better than mine.

(((((HUGS)))) I so wish I
(((((HUGS)))) I so wish I knew just what to say and just what to tell you is available to you! I somehow have got to believe that treaments ARE there for you, and that by being persistant, or as my Reggie says, Putting the GRRRRR in Girl-Power, you will get what you need! I wish you could send this email to Limbaugh, and Hannity and Sarah Palin, and ALL of those fear-mongerers who say that we don't need universal healthcare. But I digress, I am sorry, I know it isn't helpful to you at this very minute.
Check with the ACS, check with the ombudsman at the hospital you go to, and I hope you have called the woman back who says you have paperwork to fill out. Perhaps having at least started the paperwork, things will be done to facilitate your treatment.
Let us know what you find out, sweetie~ my heart is with you, and I am sorry that things aren't so clear for you right now.
Hugs,

I don't know that much about them and don't know anyone who has used their services. They were just on my health insurance web page so they may not be what you are looking for. It might be worth a look tho. Good luck.0 -

PAT
I know that we all seem to have days like what you are going through. This time in our lives seem to be so overwhelming. Why all at once, we ask! This will get much better. I'm not sure how it works, but a friend of my family, her daughter has been dealing with lung cancer for about 4 years now and she is getting help for her treatments and tests from Medicare. Maybe you could check it out. Best of Luck and hang in there. This to will pass! Diane0 -

Pat, a new member, Vicki, has kindly posted the agencies and numbers she obtained for assistance with chemo charges. The thread is "My Port Placed in my Thigh," or something similar.
I am so sorry you have been going through all of this. It seems so unfair to me that we have to go through financial and personal problems as well as CA.
I have gotten financial assitance from Medicaid Part B, It especially for Breast and cerviacal..In fact it is called Breast and Cervical Medicaid Part B. I am not sure which state you live in but I think most or all states have it. I live in Montana. Ask a social worker at your Hospital or a county office about this. It has been a life-saver for me.

I know this must be such a difficult time and all you need are financial worries. My daughter is a sociaal worker at University Of Maryland Medical Center...because this is a teaching hospital they accept everyone whether they have insurance or not and then her job is to find a grant that will pay for it...sounds like someone is doing this for you. You need to let your doctors know what problems you are having. Probably the less you have..the more help you can find.
I am sorry your husband is sick too...just lay back and let the doctors take care of you and look for all the help you can get within the hospital system.
I'm not sure where you are in your treatment, but a Pet Scan is usually done at the beginnign to check the rest of your body...but not having it will probably not make any difference to your initial treatment. I was never able to have my Pet Scan because of diabetic problems..but am still able to go through treatments.
I will be thinking of you and always feel free to come to us. Pat!!!0 -
sorry
to hear all you are going through, as if you need to worry about insurance and how to pay for your tests right now. I hate insurance and think they should make it against the law when you have a disease to deny paying for anything that you need. I have been having a tough time right now as well, so i know how you feel. I didnt have insurance when i was diagnosed with my bc. I was lucky that susan b kolman foundation paid for my mammo and biopsy. The hospital and cancer center have a financial aid program that i applied for and was approived for and they paid for everything at 100% until i got insurance. I was laid off from my job in January, so that is why i didnt have insurance. Check with your cancer center and hospital to see if they have a financial aid program, i think most of them do. Im also sorry that you think that of your husband too. I really hope that he wouldnt abandon you in such a time of need. Maybe he just doesnt know what to say or how to deal with you being sick. Try to hang in there. You are in my prayers
