You.......
Are all so wonderful. And I knew that if anyone could help through prayer, it would be all of my wonderful sisters here.
I just got back from the hospital. The angio showed that the top of his heart and the bottom of his heart are dead. The only thing pumping is the middle.
They think that he has been having small heart attacks for decades to cause that amount of damage, and there is really not much to be done for him.
They will send him home in a couple of days, with some prescriptions and some nitro.
He could keep going for years,or not.
He will definitely have to change his lifestyle. Picture Daniel Boone, & that's what my brother is like. Avid outdoorsman. But he won't have the stamina for that sort of thing.
He will have to learn to live a "new" way, just as we have.
Thank you all! Love you!

That the medications will be effective, that your brother will learn to accept his "new normal" - and that he'll be around for a long time.
Kind regards, Susan0 -

CR, I am so sorry that surgery will not help your brother; at the same time, I am relieved that he may yet live a long and happy life, though a changed one. As you put it so well, he is facing learning a new way of living, as we are.
That's not easy and won't be for your brother, his wife and kids and you and all who love him. But it is doable. I pray that he will adapt and have the opportunity to enjoy a good, if different, lifestyle.
Thank you for letting us know.0 -

CR, I also am sorry that surgery won't help your brother, but, he can still live a long and great life without it. He will just have to change his lifestyle somewhat. I know it was a long day for you, so, hopefully you will get some sleep tonight. Thanks for updating us. My prayers are still with you and your family CR!

are you sure they ran all the tests? My brother (who was 54 at the time) went to the hospital and they said only 30% of his heart was alive, they didn't know what they could do for him at that point. But another doc sent him to a different hospital for the petscan, and they found a good vein they could use. It was hiding at the back of the heart, and it was hard to find, but they found it. They kept saying he was the youngest person in the cardiac ward with the oldest heart. They ended up doing a quintuple bypass on June 4, 2008 and he is now doing very well. It has been a little over a year, and he still has some healing to go, but his heart is working wonderfully. You might want your brother to ask for more tests?
just a thought, either way, I am keeping you all in my prayers!
