Just got back!
Well we just got back so we will be home for the rest of the summer. However we are going on a cruise to the Carribean with 12 other friends and family in Jan. and we are quite excited about that!!! Don't you all worry I will be posing pics when we get back, if you haven't figured it out by now I am a shutter bug. We went to Hawaii after my last dx and in just one week I took just short of 900 photo's. I promise to only post a few! LOL0 -
Several long weekend trips
Several long weekend trips planned for us. July 4th weekend we're on the Texas coast in a condo facing the water with long walks on the beach. The end of July is a weekend in Dallas for a Rod Stewart concert, in August we'll spend 2 nights on San Antonio's Riverwalk, and in September it's Las Vegas for our 37th wedding anniversary.0 -

Welcome to TX! I live in Fort Worth. San Antonio is one of my favorite vacation places. The Riverwalk is great. You can take bus tours of the city. One goes to Sea World, science museum, and other kid-friendly places. Another goes to the more cultural/historical places. Either one is a great way to see the town at a leisurely pace. Be sure to take the boat ride on the river too. I prefer the boat ride in the evening...cooler and the lights on the water are pretty.
As for me, I will be spending the summer recovering from bilateral DIEP procedure (breast reconstruction)that I am having tomorrow, so I will be home.
Take care, seof0 -

Tomorrow morning I leave for a week at Ocean City, MD. Hope to rest and relax a bit. My Mother lives there and she has been with me since my dx in October. She came for 2 weeks and stayed 9 months! There will be a lot to do at her place, cleaning out the pantry and restocking, dusting, just getting her settled back in. Then R&R for the rest of the week. Rod Stewart!!! I've been to two of his concerts here in MD. Enjoy! He puts on quite a show.

Well, I love all of your vacation plans. Please post some pictures when you get back. After our big trip to Puerto Rico in April, I don't think we'll be making another one. Maybe a few side trips here and there. Hubby and I like to go camping and cook whole fish on an open fire. I think I camp maily for the food!
Since you all know I'm an uber planner, I have already starting planning a trip for NEXT August (2010) to New Brunswick, Canada. I'm a huge Anne of Green Gables fan and want to visit Prince Edward Island, where the book took place. I'm also excited about the Bay of Fundy.0 -

I'm an Anne fan too, Mimi. Anne of Green Gables wasn't exactly my kind of reading during grade school (more World War II, baseball, and historical stuff - yeah, I'm weird) but my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Shrake, read it aloud to us every day. And I was hooked. And I went ahead and and read the whole series on my own.
This is Moopy's vacation and mine. We know we're up here for rads, and that there are bound to be curveballs. But it's been very nice so far. Right now the Moopinator is snoozing on the bed with all three puppies. Someone is snoring softly - since the boys don't snore, it must be Eefy or Moopy. meanwhile I'm drinking coffee and farting around on my laptop.
Life is good. Thank you, God.0 -

Been to the river walk. That was so nice. The Air Force base is there and we came for the Graduation. The only problem was, there is a lot of drinking spots on the walk and we had minors with us.0 -
We went to Nova Scotia andmimivac said:Vacation!

We went to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island (stopped briefly in New Brunswick on our way home to NY state), and we loved it! I read many of the Anne of Green Gables series, and it was really neat seeing the place that the book was based on. Nova Scotia was our favorite, so if you have a chance, please try to spend some time there. Everyone was so nice, everywhere we went. This was the same summer that we had experienced some hostility from Canadians near Toronto (because we were from the states).
While we were on that trip, we had several people say that we needed to visit Newfoundland. Since we won't be going on a sailing vacation, because we normally go in May, and I was recuperating from my bilateral mastectomy and DIEP reconstruction then, we have decided to do another Canadian vacation. In August, we will travel for three weeks to Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Labrador and return through 'God's country' coming through Quebec. The major road that we'll be traveling on in Labrador is hundreds of miles of gravel and twists and turns. The hotel and motel owners in the area will give you a free satellite phone to use while you're travelling the 'highway', so that gives you an idea of how far out it is. We will also be taking four ferries: two are overnight and the others a few hours during the day.

That sounds great! I would love to visit all of those places! Of course, now I would have to get a passport or "smart license".
We also get hostility at times from some Canadians, even here. We live so close to the border, that there are just as many Canadians here daily, as there are U.S. citizens.
On the other hand, I'm guessing that some people here aren't always so nice to Canadians either....
My brother goes waaaay up in Canada to moose hunt every year. I have no idea where, but he has to take a small plane to get to his final destination. I've always thought that I would love to go with him. Just to see that much wilderness. (I DON'T hunt)

Hello everybody,
We've make plans to go to the Philippines this August
for 2 weeks before my oldest daughter goes to college.
The plan is 1 week in the island of Siquijor (my husband's
place). We will visit Bohol where the Chocolate Hills are.
It will be a lot of sun, white sand and swimming.
Also we might visit Cebu and see Magellan's Cross.
2nd week in Manila, we will go to Mall of Asia.
Shopping, shopping and more shopping. I would also
like to go back to Binondo Chinatown to buy me some
jewelry (I like earrings). I do hope everybody will
enjoy their summer vacation.
God bless,
