Possibly good news....keep fingers crossed!
"Pam...I am so excited about this news that I can't let you go all weekend so I am leaving you this message. Your OncotypeDX test score came back today and....your not going to believe this, Pam...OK...are you ready?....I can't believe this!.....your score was soooo low it was off the charts! This is such good news! Couldn't wait to let you know.....this is not a 100% quarentee that you won't need chemo, but I think the Oncologist will probably say rads and hormone therapy only.....we'll keep our fingers crossed for you!!...I will be out of the office Monday, but I'll be back Tuesday, so give me a call!...Hope you have a great weekend!"
Now I know I will have a great weekend!! Hoping everyone else does too! Pammy

Oh Pammy, that is wonderful
Oh Pammy, that is wonderful news... from everything I have read the OncotypeDX (I have a booklet right here)... the low score.. (off the charts low for you.. how exciting)... then your probably right... no chemo... I wish I could give you a great BIG HUG!!.. I am genuinly, sincerely happy for you!!!! That is wonderful news......
Hey, remember Shawn... who called you about the test... I had to go back and read your post from the night he called you to see how long it was from the time he called until you posted that you had received your report... because... HE CALLED ME LAST NIGHT... He said my insurance wouldn't commit to paying for it until thte claim is submitted and determination of medical neccessity is made... I qualify for the grant to... your right he is a terrific guy!! Very very nice...
Anyway, you got the call on the 19th... and received your results on the 26... it took 7 days.. That's what I was sweating... I want to have those results before the 7th.. when I meet with my new oncologist... so that means if they work the same way on mine, I should have my results by the 3rd or by the 6th... (holiday falls in there...)...
Doing a happy dance for you!!!

You'll also get a letter in the mail from him in a couple of days. Plus another booklet. I was told only 25% of women will recieve a score under 10, so I just reinforced my Dr's opinion that I usually fall into the "unusual" catergory!! I hope you get the same great news! Maybe you'll even get the news a day sooner! I don't like being in the lead here!!

Great News!!
Pammy, what amazing news! I know how you have worried for such a long time, and I am so relieved for you. What a blessed message to receive.
I will keep my fingers crossed. But I can't imagine an onc. recommending chemo with a Onc score so low it's not even on the charts. You have a great weekend, and be sure to update us on Tuesday.0 -

I had never heard of this test before you posted about it, now it's at the top of my questions list, that I keep on my desktop in note pad.
I have the lowest insurance a person can have (medi-cal) until I can sign up for bebefits at work (November) so how can I go about getting this test done?
I am also ER+PR+ and HER2- my doctor says the tumer is just over 1.5 cm according to the ultra sound, and her best guess was stage 1 (IDC)
I saw Taleena mentioned the same guy called her, are you in the same area, or is an organization I can look into in my area? (San Diego)
Thanks in advance for any info you can share.
And P.S.
I'm really happy for Pammy!!0 -

Aurora.. no we are not in the same area she's in NJ I'm in MO... there is only one company in the US that performs the test... It's called Genomic Health.. their website is
http://www.genomichealth.com/
You can get some information from there... Because it is still considered somewhat "new" insurances may or maynot cover the cost of the test.. But they do have grant programs available if you qualify... and I would guess that the majority of people qualify... Shawn, who called both of us will help with all of that... it will show whether or not your type of tumor and case would benefit from chemotherapy and also gives you an idea on reoccurance risk..
A score below 18 is not thought to need chemo... and is thought to have a low reoccurance rate, scores of 31 or above is considered a good candiate for chemo, with a higher risk of reoccurance... however, like some here, you could also fall in the middle.
Hope that helps..

is that score the same one on your blood work called CA-15? They said this is supposed to tell you where your cancer levels are. I still haven't looked through all my paperwork to see what my actual diagnosis was, but I remember that because my levels were low when I had a large tumor still inside me.
thanks

The CA-15 is a different test, and is actually used and intended for advanced breast cancer.. not all bc produces the CA-15 3 ... here is a good site for infomation on the CA-15
http://breastcancer.about.com/od/tumormarkers/f/ca_15-3.htm
The oncotypeDX actually is for early staged bc.. 0-1... (I think).. anyway I hope this helps..

I'll put that at the top of my note pad and ask my doctor about it, I think I might qualify for it being the tumer is small and possibly stage 1, (I have to ask my doctor about that part tomorrow)
I'm getting so anxiuos lately, it's been 10 days since I saw her, and that's about how long she said it would take for approval.
Anyway........... thanks for the info.
