I don't burn........EvahhhhhhhhhhhKat11 said:10 minutes of fully
10 minutes of fully unprotected sun a day is good for you, but thats it. After that it cover it up. I already have pre cancer cell on skin from all the years of tanning ( really burning )without good sun screen. I have fair skin so now I really have to watch it. However I was told thats the cells I have will not turn into full blown cancer.
Tasha your to funny girl.
I'm like my dad..Dark eyes and tans to Pakistani standards within hours.
When I first flew over here for a short holiday I had a HUGE Jamaican guy next to me on the plane, he explained that turbulence was "Jast Gads' Speed Bumps" Then told me to stop tanning as I had almost reached his shade......I fell about laughing and the stewardess had to virtually carry me off the plane.....first flight nerves I guess.. He was lovely though.
Cows' with parasols? LOL
Hugs to you all.

So, noone here has ever tanned after rads?
I had a trip planned for Hawaii prior to my diagnosis~my rad onc said to cover the area of radiation with a good high neck swimsuit~and use 50 spf all the time, especially in the water as it reflects the sun. This was 6 weeks after rads. We had a fab vacation. No problems.
As for the self tanners~ i mix mine with some fragrant lotion and it goes on even and nice, smelling lovelier than the tanner alone.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....((((cyber~smiles)))

I need to know: was the punch line to the Jamaican joke you couldn't tell, "Actually, it says, 'Welcome to Jamaica, have a nice day!'" ?????

Debi.......well done! I am laughing my socks off. Thanks Hun. Jxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
I love the sun, but...
I'm a wimp and don't want to get skin can**r, too. This bc is enough. I use to work outside for hours at a time, now I listen to what my drs say and cover-up or use sunscreen. I wear a hat, long sleeves, and jeans to work out in my garden. People probably look at me and think I have lost my mind (oh well). In the heat of the day, I spend my time indoors.
I use to get a nice golden tan, but since my dx I shy away from direct sunlight when I am not wearing using sunscreen.
For you sun-worshippers, go get a few rays for me,

Well, it seems that you, missy, are the right age! That's what is referred to a a "backdoor" answer.

PS
I'm still inside under the compfort of the ceiling fan (no AC here) and, as soon as the sun begins to set, my pup and I are going to go out for our nightly walk. No sun rays for me today!0 -

After the first time I had rads, I waited 5 months and started tanning, and, had no problem. This time, I will probably wait until next Spring to start, not sure. My radiation oncologist said NEVER! lol The rads tech said wait 3 months at least and use a sunblock. I have my skin checked once or twice a year by a dermatologist, so, I am on top of taking care of my skin. But, I do love a tan, and, I love boating, swimming, biking, anything outside. So, we will see. I did get a tan last weekend on the bike on my back.0
