    good choice
I'm 32 years old (just had second child in April)and I just had a radical mastectomy. My margins and nodes were clear, but I still feel good about my choice. The type of BC I have is very rare and I don't want to have to have it reoccur. I've just been telling myself, "This is what I need to do to take care of myself." Good luck!

    Warm welcome, elentz
Glad you've joined us, though sorry for your diagnosis.

I probably won't be on the computer much as I have so much to get ready. I'll be staying at my daughter's house for awhile before coming home.

Will be posting more then. Thank you all for your support. I'm so glad I found this place.

    Love,

Maryann we'll be waiting for you when you feel like coming back. Give yourself time to heal and let your daughter pamper you a bit-you deserve it. dmc

    PET SCAN
Has anyone needed a PET Scan for pre-op surgery?

I had to have one done, and my surgeon called and said this was the most important test that needed to be cleared and mine was good. No cancer found anywhere else.

    Hi Maryann,
I know it's scary right now. That is so normal and we have all been through that. You have made the right decision because nobody knows you better than you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers on the 23rd.

    Love and gentle hugs, Donna

    Great news from the scan!
Thanks for sharing! Again, best wishes to you on Tuesday. Glad to know you'll be staying with your daughter. Please do visit us afterwards, whenever you can.

P.S.: Those double/triple posts happen, to all of us. My tricks: don't click on "Post comment" more than once. Often, it just takes a little time... Also, another member suggested to me to go back and "edit" the duplicates by deleting the text. However, the fields must hold something - so, I just put in a "." (period) for both the Subject and Comment.

    Yes, Maryanne, I did
My surgeon ordered it to rule out the chance that the cancer went anywhere else. The only thing they found on mine were cyst on my ovaries. So glad you got good news with that! :) Pammy

    PET SCAN
I had a pet scan before the surgery and half way through it started banging on the top and screaming "get me out of here"!!!! It was hot and close and I got so sick to my stomach after drinking that yucky stuff. Now I hear they have a pill. Where am we? In some 3rd world nation that they make us drink that slime? Ha hahahaha. The technician gave me the disk the scan was on and I copied it into my computer before I gave it to the oncologist. I hope I never have to do that again, but I suppose it was necessary. Again, praying for you!!!

    PET Scan Clear!
    Maryann,

That's fantastic news! Doesn't it feel great to get some good news every now and again? I had the PET done (about a year after surgery) and I'm so claustophobic that by the time I was finished I had such deep indentations from my fingernails that my palms were pink and almsot ready to bleed! I was never told I had to go inside a tunnel! Ugh! Crazy as it may sound, though, I liked the coconut-flavored drink. If it hadn't been radioactive, I probably would have asked for more.

Again, congrats on the great news!
