Good evening sisters and bro's. Just wanted to ask if any of you had them put a bullis on you to radiate? I have tried googling this but maybe i am spelling it wrong. This is what the radiologists call it. They warm it up and lay it on areas of my skin, before they radiate. I asked them today and they said it draws the radiation closer to your skin so you get a stronger dosage..closer to the skin. Also it fills in cavities ..such as the arm-pit area. My radiologists contracts out and has been all over the country and says i am getting the best treatment here in Billings as he has seen anywhere, and i do trust and like him alot. I just haven't head any of you talk about it, and this inquiring mind would like to know.

BTW my daughter Jamie called tonight and she is on her way Sunday and will be spending 10 days with me YIPEEEEEEEEEE i can't wait! I haven't seen her since my surgery and hope she won't be to shocked by my appearance and porkepine head! lol! but i have sent he a few pics to laugh at! We will have so much fun going to movies..shopping and doing girlie stuff!

Hope you all have a good night and sweet peaceful dreams. love, jackie

    radiation
Sorry Jackie, I only had the regular and booster type radiation, but maybe someone else has an answer for you.
Have fun with Jamie (as opposed to Tasha's Jamie), she will love you no matter how much hair is on your head. I kind of liked it being bald, and I got a bit of a phobia when I did find a hair on something (it certainly wasn't mine!!)

First of all, I'm SO HAPPY that you will be seeing Jamie! I can't imagine a better way to lift spirits!!

I'm not familiar with what you are describing during your rads. It sounds interesting!

    bullis
They wet it down with very warm water so it actually feels good when they put it on. and then they tape it to me. I thought that was the standard treatment. But i guess not huh? I will also be getting boosters but I had to ask them for that.

    As long as........
As long as we are discussing rads, I have a question. Why do they take a chest x-ray every week, while having rads? At least, they did where I went. But I never asked why.

    Hi CR
Every Monday they take x-rays so they can see that they are in the exact same positioning spot and that there markers are right on target. They can tell this by the x-ray pictures. I also see the Rad onc. on Monday and he looks at my skin for burning.

It is nice to see you. (or your dog) I miss you, and look forward always to your posts.
    Hugs, Jackie

    Thanks Jackie........
I never knew why they did it and never bothered to ask. Thaks for explaining it.

No, that's really me in the pic! I have lovely long hair! Unfortunately, it also covers my face! LOL!!
Actually, I LOVE everyone's pictures in their avatars. I don't really have a recent one of myself, so you get to see my best buddy instead.

    Good evening, dear Jackie!
My own rads were finished five years ago. I had 35 standard treatments. Sorry, can't help you much with your specific questions. However, I am fascinated with this step you've described.

Really HAPPY that Jamie will be with you, for sure, now within only days. The countdown begins... :-)

I bet she won't be "shocked" by your appearance - she'll be rubbin' your porcupine head with joy! She loves you just as you are, as you love her.

Woo hoo! Jackie's Jamie is almost on her way!

    Kind regards, Susan

    They put something on me
They put something on me that was like a pad before they radiated me. I think they said it concentrated the dose. It's been a long time so I don't remember if it was heated.

    LOL!!
i PROBABLY HAVE MOE HAIR ON MY FACE THAN ON MY HEAD ha. My picture was right after i was diagnosed and before surgery. I have been avoiding cameras lately so no recent ones of me with me either. I will have to put up another of my best buddy, Tootsie, until my hair grows a little. I took off my hat today to show my favorite bus driver my growing back hair (sticking straight up) like a porkepine and he busted out laughing which got me to laughing and we laughed all the way home. He asked me how i was going to spend my day and i said i thought i would go get my hair done..and we busted out again.
    hugs, jackie

    OMG Jackie.......
I have referred to myself as looking like the wild woman of Borneo! My hair is coming in wavy, which I think I will love, but at its present length (super short) it has a mind of its own! It sticks up wherever and whenever it wants! LOL!

That is TOO FUNNY!!! Going to spend your day getting your hair done! Your sense of humor is incredible!

    Bullis pack
They put a pack on me when I had radiation. This is only 6 months ago, but I barely remember. It was to concentrate the radiation. I don't think they put it on each time. I remember that it felt warm, heavy and good. My best to you and I am glad Jamie will be with you. Love Lyn

    Had it
I had the every other day bollis treatments. For me it was simply a warm moist towel. I used to call it my spa treatment in the morning. As you said , it is used to pull the radiation to the surface of the skin. While the covering gives you the feeling that you are being protected, it's actually the opposite so you may in fact have a bit more burning. I don't think I did but then again I had nothing to compare it to. Keep using the moisturizer, no deodorant or shaving. good luck!
