anti-anxiety meds with chemo

Does anybody know if you can take anti-anxiety meds before chemo? I just got an Rx for Ativan, which is really helping my anxieties. But, I am not sure how it would react with A/C treatment starting (tentatively,pending Oncotype results) next Wed.

    I think that you should ask your doctor. I'm on Zoloft for my anxiety. Which is no problem with my Chemo treatments. double check with the doctor. Best of luck with your treatments. God Bless Diane

    If i'm not mistaken dont they give you ativan while your doing your treatment. It helps calm you down if your nervous or anxious. I belief i was on that during my drips. Hmmmm, i'm sure someone else will respond and correct me if i'm wrong.

    I had six infusions of TAC,
    I had six infusions of TAC, and was given Ativan during the entire chemo treatment. Ask your oncologist, but I think this is a pretty common prescription given to relieve nausea, sleeplisness and anxiety during chemo. Good luck on your treatments...HUGS

    I had Ativan with Chemo
    I was given Ativan while undergoing chemo. Yes, it's an anti-anxiety med; however, it also helps with nausea. For me, it was a godsend. I was told not to be afraid to take it when I needed it. Once chemo was over, I didn't need it anymore. Hope this helps. Hugs, Marilynn

    I had Ativan with chemo. I did the AC chemo and the told me if I was still had naseau after taking naseau meds to take the Ativan. ALways check with your own dic first though.

    I had TAC chemo...
    My onc prescribed Ativan (1 mg.) as a sleep aid. Took before bed evening of each treatment, and for two evenings after. That's was it - no more than that.
