The story... I'm finally home..
Got to the hospital at 6:30 am.. nice.. not... After they got me into their ever so fasionable hospital gown, (the one's that show your tush) they came in to put in my IV... he was a student.. after spending 15 minutes (not kidding) trying to find the "perfect spot" on my hand, he put it in and missed.. needless to say I was not going to give him another opportunity.. so the anathesiologist came in and did it.. (about 30 seconds flat).
Then they send me down to radiology.. the radiologist came in and began his 4 injections into my breast with that radioactive material (wonder if I'll glow in the dark tongight)... now for all of you who said those injections aren't too bad.... I don't know if it was because my excisional biopsy was so recent or if I'm just another name for a cat (puss and boots), but they all went right around my nipple, and the second one had me in tears... and by the fourth I was loudly saying sh*t sh*t with tears streaming down my face. They didn't give me any of that "forget it" medicine before that because the nurse wanted me to remember talking to the doctor...
Well, talked to the doctor... I would have rather forgot and had the happy stuff.. then lights out..woke up with surgery finished, they took seven nodes, (why seven.. that's an odd number... well seven is a lucky number), drain tube, in pain (TO ALL OF YOU SPECIAL PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO DREAM... I WAS ONCE AGAIN CHEATED... NO MESAGES... AND NO GOOD DREAMS.. THEY MUST BE GIVING ME THE WRONG DRUGS...) was home by one o'clock.. took a couple of pain pills and passed out until about four. Now I've eaten... went to the bathroom to find out I'm peeing Blue.. well at least it's one of my favorite colors...
Ate some dinner, just took another pain pill and I think it's nap time again... my arm (under arm hurts really bad)... but maybe sleeping I won't notice it as much... night night......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..
PS.. thank you ladies for all of your support.. don't know if I could have made it through this without you!

Welcome home
T, welcome home. sorry you had such a hard time with the IV thing. that happens to me every time. I hate it!!!!! I also don't like crying either when they do it.
I can also relate to the needles in the breast thing too...No drugs for the four needles is not how I wanted to begin my first surgery either. But you are loved and it is all over but the pain under your arm. I wish you all the best to a less painful recovery.
Sleep well and sweet dreams...

No fair... we should have a serious talk with the radiologit... maybe if we told him we won't like him very much if they don't give us something...lol maybe I should have tried that... with my luck he would have told that he had enough friends anyway...lol
thank you for the well wishes Julie.. it really means alot... just wish I could sleep now.

So glad you are Home!!!Eil4186 said:So glad your surgery is past
So glad your surgery is past you. Now you can concentrate on healing and resting. I know what you mean about the injections around the nipple---I too was crying in pain. That hurt like hell!
Am so glad this is over for you. Another step to the road to recovery. I go in Friday morning to the surgeon to see what kind of plan of action that's ahead for me.
God Bless!

Taleena, glad you're home and on the mend. Those needles sound awful and now I wonder what they used to find my nodes. Will have to look that one up soon. We'll be looking forward to your posts once you are up and feeling a bit better.

Glad you are finished wih
Glad you are finished wih your surgery, and I'm praying for the best possible result from your pathology report. The lymph node removal was the worst for me, too, but I did see tremendous improvement each day. Hope you find that, too. Sleep is a wonderful healer, so zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz away.
