The chat room is open 24/7. The chat you are referring to is the Caregiver session, but the room is open all of the time, and both survivors and caregivers are welcome to be there at any time.
Typically, there is a group that shows up in the morning, then another small bunch around lunchtime, and then after say 5PM, 6PM EDT.
Hope this helps.
Take care,

Hello,
Is there a trick to getting into the chat rooms. When I click on it, a page comes up that says the rooms will open momentarily and if they don't open in 10 seconds, to click the "connect" button below. I don't have a connect button below.
You said the caregiver group is 6pm cdt? Is that 5pm eastern time?
Thanks for your help.
I just found this site and am enjoying it very much. It is comforting to find that others are going through the same things I am (caring for husband with phase 4 laryngeal/tongue cancer). There are times that I have thought that I am just a weak, unfit caregiver. But now I am beginning to see that I am "normal". At least in that aspect.

I am not sure if that caregiver's group is still meeting every tuesday evening (it would be 7pm EST), but caregivers are welcome in the chat room at ANY time, and there is typically a healthy mix of survivors and caregivers in the room, when people can get into it .
There have been some issues with some folks not being able to get in, both 'oldtimers' and newcomers. CSN is aware of this. However, if you cannot get in (it takes longer than 10 seconds, trust me, for the new window to open) writer to the webmaster and let him/her know. They may be able to help you.
Best wishes with that. Look forward to seeing you in the room.
Take care,

I can't get in either, but I think it is because of a security setting on my computer. I have sent an email to CSN tech support to see if they have a fix for this issues. Once I hear back from them, I'll post what they suggest.
Can't wait to get on there - sounds like a great place to give/get support.0 -

Here is the reply email that I received:

Hi,
Some members have had problems accessing chat and our technical folks have not been able to find the cause in order to correct it. However, it seems that most with access problems have a dial-up connection. What sort of connection are you using?
We are in the process of upgrading to a new, enhanced chat tool that should eliminate the problems. We anticipate it will be implemented soon.
Your CSN Staff
American Cancer Society Cancer Survivors Network®

Anyway - I have a high speed connection that I use at both work and home, so I don't think that is the problem. I guess we'll have to wait until the upgrade is completed - thanks.0 -

Michele,
I know the anxiety, exhaustion, uncertainty and just plain fear of being a care giver. That has been my "new" career since Aug 2008. One day I was in nursing school and working in home health care the next I was living the cancer nightmare all of us endure.
It's very lonely and confining and this website is a God send. Please feel free to lean on me when you need a shoulder. Somedays it's so overwhelming you can hardly get out of bed I know.
Feel free to send me a private message. I can understand what you are going through.
God Bless

I am new here
hi, my wife has urothelial carcinoma and has been fighting cancer since 2012. It got bad last december. I have been caring for her 24/7 since January. she is now in hospice at home. weeks to months left. Hard to watch her suffer. She has 5 or 6 reasonable hours per day. Final family visits. etc. I just want some folks to talk to who are going through the same stuff.

Hello Jacsmom6,
You can access the chatroom by clicking on the link at the top of the page labeled 'CSN Chatroom'. There is only one chatroom, and it is open to both patients and caregivers. Members are usually active in the late evening. Please feel free to stop by later today if you would like to connect with others.
Best,
Nydia
