My identical twin sister

My twin sister had lumpectomy of her left breast in 12/07--atypical ductal hyperplasia. My surgeon highly recommended in January 2009 that she have a breast MRI given the fact that I was diagnosed with DCIS with invasion. She finally had it done last Thursday after months of me nagging. She got the results back yesterday--smooth nodule(12 mm) in her right breast. She will have a mammogram and ultrasound tomorrow. The path report states suggestive of a benign etiology.

I am praying that it is benign. Her regular doctors office didn't want to order the MRI because she just had a mammogram in 12/08 and it did not show anything. Her dr's office put down the reason for her MRI was abnormal periods--I told my sister that she needs to get a different Dr. since everything is like pulling teeth and the office can't get things correct.

I just needed to tell someone and you are my friends.

    your sister
    Margo,

I will be thinking of you and your sister. I pray indicators are correct, and result is benign.
I have experienced some of that frustation, more with insurance company than dr., but did get very frustrated with clerk at my gyno/ob dr when letters written trying to get approved for a hysterectomy. I'm 50 with mom that died from BC. Didn't get approved. They only approved an oopherectomy. Stayed menopausal after chemo though. Will probably go forward with hysterectomy soon and tell ins co. to kiss my @ss!!!! Or I may just get the oopherectomy and still tell them to kiss my @****!!! :-) Dealing with the dr/ins co communication is enough to drive you bonkers! BUT, as said many times on this site, I am WOMAN, AND I am a WARRIOR!!!!
Lucky for you girls, you can't hear my singing :-)

    Good luck with everything,

    Dear Margo...
Of course, I'll be praying with you, for both you and your sister. You did the right thing by nagging her, you're a good sister. My own doctors made a few recommendations regarding my sister which, of course, I passed on to her. She chose to ignore them.

Please keep us posted. Best wishes to you, and to your twin.

    Kind regards, Susan

Now I just got a call from my mom and she had her physical today and something didn't look right to her doctor when she was doing her pap so she has to see a GYN specialist to make sure it is not cancer.

What more can happen this week? I am praying Good news, Good news, Good news for both of these special people in Jake's and my life.

Now I thin I will finally have a breakdown which I have not had yet since I was diagnosed on 12/8.

Thank you all for being my friends--sounds like a song--HAHA.

Having 4 of 12 treatments tomorrow Taxol w/Herceptin and then going for another fill of the expanders. Having lunch with my cousin in between appointments--maybe I'll have a beer with lunch.

    When it rains it pours?
Good grief! I'm adding your Mom to my hopes & prayers list, Margo. Try not to have a breakdown just yet. Hopefully, you won't have to at all - on either your sister's nor your Mom's behalf. Instead, yeah - look forward to and have that beer (maybe a few) at lunch tomorrow.

    Kind regards, Susan

    Good News
Margo, I also will be praying for the best news. I cannot imagine having this fear for your sister and mom along with chemo treatments. You have been so strong for yourself and for Jake, and I know you will continue to be.

If it helps, I can tell you that I twice had abnormal PAPs. Both came back fine. And the path report for your sister is encouraging. Please keep us updated. And do keep that lunch with your cousin, with or without the beer!

    Thank you friends.
I know that all the good thoughts and prayers are heartfelt because as I read each and everyone of the messages I knew they came from the heart and tugged a tear or two out of me just to water my eyes and not roll down the cheeks.

I will keep my cyber family informed of any news.

    Love ya all.
    Hugs coming to you.

    Oh my
Margo, this is a lot to handle, and I'm sorry that this is happening to your family. The good news is that there is a very large chance both your mom and sister will have benign results. I am hoping with all my heart to hear that from you soon. I know what you mean about holding in an overdue breakdown. I did that myself. Let it happen naturally. Also, have that beer! You are strong and will get through this as well. My very best to you mom and sis.

Sigh, sometimes the patient needs to 'play doctor'....
My first onc was, to say the least, a person who said the least. My insurance would cover her, but she was part of a bigger team where there was an EXCELLENT doctor who was my true shepherd, conferring with my official onc all of the time...lol...

I am sending good vibes that everything is ok with your sister...please keep us posted!!!

    This is Margo's sister
Margo let me read this thread and I have to tell you all, that I am so glad that she has the support of all of you, I know it means a lot to her and I have seen why. I was overwhelmed when reading all the heartfelt responses. Thank you all for your well wishes, prayers, positive thoughts and energy for our family. I went for my additional tests today and from what the radiologist told the techs, he didn't see anything to be concerned about at this time and will recommend a follow-up breast MRI in 6 months. I am very comfortable and at ease with hearing that. Thank you again for all the support that you give Margo.
