Great CR. I knew you would
Great CR. I knew you would eventually do it. Like your daughter said, if people want to stop and stare they will no matter what you have on or not have on. It's another huge step to the new you. Hugs, Lili0 -
So proud of you CR
You will be so happy to go bald, my favorite thing was everyone at working rubbing my head.
Now that it has grown in, I keep getting people saying it looked better short and spiky!. I have cut it a few times, but am not ready yet to buzz cut it again.
Now that the weather is turning hot, you will be happier bald . I guarantee it.
Proud to be bald.

Dear CR,
You go girl! I
Dear CR,
You go girl! I know that was not an easy thing for you to do. Aren't you glad you did? It is so wonderfully liberating. I used to get the stick on rhinestones and either do the pink ribbon on my head or a star, moon, flower, depending on the occasion. It was fun to watch people's reactions. I am very proud of you-it took guts.
Love and gentle hugs,

To Jackie...rjjj said:what your daughter said is so true
That is a big step and i am proud of you. I finally shed my wig at work last week. I was taking my old people out to plant flowers and my wig was hot itching and my ears were even turning red, i thought the heck with this and took it off. To lighten the situation I asked them all if they wanted to rub it for good luck. And they took turns rubbing my newly grown little hairs that are sticking straight up! We laughed and laughed as one elderly man kept repeating "It's the darndest thing!" and rubbing his own head wondering why his too isn't growing back lol.lol.
Jackie
Thanks for sharing that lovely story, Jackie! I'm so glad your work with the elderly brings you joy! As I'm certain you do for them!
Kind regards, Susan0 -
Way to go, CR!!!
GOOD FOR YOU! You know the very best thing about it? You did it for YOU! And, my compliments to your daughter - a wise woman, like her mother!
I was often tempted to go "naked"; but, I was bald during our very, very cold northern late autumn/throughout winter. So, wasn't really on option - except in the shower! By the time Spring rolled around and it was warm enough to not wear a hat/scarf, I had the "military buzz cut" look going on. NOT flattering; but, I didn't care.
So, again, GOOD FOR YOU! YOU DO WHATEVER YOU'RE MOST COMFORTABLE DOING! Even if that changes day by day, or occasion by occasion.
Kind regards, Susan
P.S.: Sunscreen on the pate while outdoors probably a really good idea - that skin up there has NEVER been exposed to the sun! :-)0 -

Good for you CR. Courage to do it--baldness/topless. I do it everyday-I just wear a hat to drop Jake off at school but never wear anything any other time on my head that is. I go to the grocery store Bald and Beautiful. I do wear a hat off and on on the golf course and since I am in chemo induced menopause I take semi frozen face clothes with me to put under my cap to cool me off while playing golf. Once I finish golf and I am at the clubhouse--off comes the hat.
People haven't said to much--not many stares.0 -
Mrs. Clean
My Sister used to go uncovered whenever she was on a treatment that caused hairloss. Her kids dubbed her "Mrs Clean" (as in the commercials for the cleaning product for Mr. Clean) She had the audacity and physique to go with it. In my case it was more like Pillsbury Dough Boy, and I never did go out without a hat. In fact, I decided that I actually like to wear hats and I still do sometimes.
Be yourself, bareheads or covered! seof.0 -

That's funny because it's exactly what I thought looking in the mirror with earrings and my bald head!!
I never wear a cover in my house or yard--but I wear a wig when I go out. I really am more comfy being bald--it might be time to give er a go!! Cheryl0 -
Joe gets an A+ for Retail Therapy!Moopy23 said:Good Idea
I'll try going bare at home more. It sure feels good with the ceiling fan on, or outside in the breeze. Especially during a hot flash.
CR, you know retail therapy never hurts. Hope you got some good Memorial Day deals. Joe and I went shopping today, and Joe thought to ask for a rain check. I congratulated his shopping savvy, and he said maybe he'll get good enough to be an honorary woman. That therapy thread sure had an effect!
Obviously - the Tutorials are no longer necessary! Asking for a "rain check" for an advertised sale item not in stock relates back to Tutorial #1: Discounts, Coupons, etc. (also including Bargain Shopping/Paying the Lowest Price) = Savings, not Spending!!!
Retail Therapy, and its close cousin - Retail Savvy, are certainly NOT gender specific. Joe does not have to become an "honorary woman" (although that's quite funny!) to practice amongst the rest of us. The only difference is that women are either born with it, or come to a quicker understanding instinctively. Men usually (not always) need a little coaching, that's all.

CR - A day later...CR1954 said:LOL!!!!!!!!
Until today, I wouldn't even go to the mailbox unless my head was covered. I think what is most amazing to me, is that such a minor act as going out with my head uncovered, made me feel so empowered and free!
Oooh, and Moopy, the retail therapy didn't hurt either!! ROFL!!
CR
... And, I'm still beaming about this thread from yesterday! Am proud of you, woman! Especially for holding your head high!
You get an A+, too, for Retail Therapy!
Kind regards, Susan0 -

I LOVE your daughter....
and we have never met!!! LOL!!
That is the BEST way to put it!!!!!!
I used to 'go naked' many times...and, like you, with head held high, and a smile on my face. The cool thing about this is that I got approached by other survivors, who told me marvelous stories of encouragement!!!!
The only times I wore something on my head was one, in a business meeting out of respect to anyone who would feel uncomfortable, and two, when it was cold outside...like 3 below zero in Holland!!!! ROFL!!!
Good for you, and give that daughter of yours a BIG hug from me!!!
Hugs, Kathi0 -

There is a theory that couples start looking more and more alike, as years pass....
After 16 years, I became bald, courtesy of the beast. My beau joked..."Well, what they say IS true...we DO look more alike!!!". I countered with "Yes, but will you join me in growing hair BACK????"

I love what Tommaseena said about not wearing anything on our heads as going topless! LOL that's great! My first venture into the topless stage was around my complex. I have a license plate frame that is hot pink and says "CANCER SUCKS!", so it's no surprise to anyone that "someone" has cancer, and when they see me i'm sure it's, "oh, it's her!"...then this weekend, i actually went to the store with just a hat...but no make up...and THAT was huge because i know without any make up, i look like a cancer patient, i look sick...now, to be honest, i just ran in, and ran out, to return a movie, but, hey...that counts0 -
