Hello, Florist
The cancer I had was ER/PR negative but also Her-2negative. We do have several sisters here who are Her2 positive. I am sure they will be posting to you. I do know that Herceptin is a very powerful drug that is used very successfully against Her2 positive cancer.
I welcome you to the board though I am sorry for the cause of your being here. You will find the members of this board to be unfailingly generous with their knowledge and experience and support.0 -

Welcome Florist
You have come to the right place for loving support. Feel free to ask questions, vent, cry and yes even laugh. You have already come a long way, congratulations on finishing chemo.
I was diagnosied with stage 3a bc, 6 positive lymphnodes involved. ER/PR neg, Her-2 pos. I have finished chemo and have had 2 radiation treatments out of 28. I had herceptin along with 2 other chemo drugs, and will continue Herceptin infusions for the rest of the year. Her-2 pos., means that you have a growth hormone making your cancer aggresive. But we now have Herceptin which is very good at blocking this hormone. Are you having Herceptin treatments? That is the usually the treatment. If you were estrogen and progesterone positive you would take tamoxifen or other inhibitors to stop regrowth. If you are neg like us there is no need for these pills. every thing we take is to stop regrowth or reoccurance. I don't know if i explained this all right, but if you google this you will find much information on it. I wish you the best with your radiation treatments. Keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing.
God Bless

Welcome to the board.
I'm ER/PR negative and HER-2+. Maybe I can help you with something.
I did four rounds of A/C chemo, four rounds of Abraxane/Herceptin, and will continue the Herceptin every three weeks, for a year.
I had 28 rads.

Thanks for the welcome CR. I had 6 rounds of chemo w/herception and also will have herception for a year. Probably 32 rads. This type of cancer which I think happens to 25% of the women diagnosed with breast cancer has so little information about it. I guess I'm just anxious to know all I can and what to expect. My cancer was stage 1, BUT grade 3, which is pretty much aggressive.0 -

You are right! Your hair will grow back and there aren't side-effects as Herceptin leaves your good cells alone and targets cancer cells only. You will not be sick!! YEAH!

Herceptin does not cause hair loss and does not make you sick.
If you are HER-2+, and your onc has not mentioned Herceptin, I would ask him/her about it.
Although, I myself did not first meet with my onc until after I had surgery, and that's when I learned about the drugs I would be getting.

CR This is my understanding as well. I will not really know what the plans for my treatment are until after surgery. I met my onc a few week ago and all she said was I would be taking Herceptin. I did not ask any Questions about the drug, I had already heard enough on that day.0 -

It sounds like a lot when the onc says "for a year". But the Herceptin infusions are a breeze. 90 minutes of relaxing with a good book every three weeks. I don't mind going at all.

Welcome Floristflorist said:yes, I'm taking herceptin
yes, I'm taking herceptin until the first of 2010
I am also ES/PR negative and HER2+. I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction in Feb. 2009. I had 4 rounds of A/C chemo. I am now doing Taxol w/Herceptin 12 rounds(I have done 3 out of 12 so far) and then will be on Herceptin alone every three weeks for one year beginning in August. I did not need radiation. I am stage 1 no lymph node involvement.
This is a wonderful site so come here anytime.
Hugs,

Herceptin TCH
I'm triple positive.Did herceptin weekly July - Dec with Taxotere and Carboplatin every 3rd week. Since then it is a triple dose of herceptin every 3 weeks for the balance of one year so I'll stop in August.
Herceptin by itself- is a breeze- no side effects at all for me.
I am taking Tamoxifin for 5 years and it has slowed my hair growth down some so I only have to shave every 3 or 4 days.
Not to worry

Julie, you are the same as me except I don't know what my numbers are. But I will be getting copy of pathology report when I go on Tuesday. The numbers don't mean anything to me but I'm sure they will to my oncologist. Pammy0
