No more AC!! Taxol starts tomorrow...
I start Taxol tomorrow, May 14th. Even though I know it's not as rough as AC, I'm still not looking forward to it. It seems like, if there is a side effect...I will have it. It's probably all in my head.
For the past two days I have been in the bed due to me catching a virus. I called my doctor and they will review my bloodwork, as usual, to see if my body can handle the treatment. On one hand I am hoping that I can't and it is postponed, on the other hand I just want this all over with. I'm just tired physically and emotionally.

you're halfway through!
Jaavon,
congrats on the worst of the chemo, the Taxol doesn't affect the white blood count like the others, so it is more than likely that you will be able to keep on schedule. That is always on our minds, don't want it, but don't delay! get it over with! The Taxol is a lot easier, it does have side effects, but they are much more tolerable. You will probably notice your hair start to grow in before you even finish the treatments.
Good Luck

Congratulations, Jaavon. I know the AC was hard.
From all accounts, Taxol is much more tolerable. If you do have side effects, I am sure some of the women on the board will be able to give you advice and tips.
Jaavon2002:
As you already know, I am done with AC today and looking forward on the Taxol treatment.

Hi jaavon...
I had a horrible virus while doing chemo. (Hubby brought it home to me) I coughed, I ached, I blew my nose for weeks. My onc kept close watch on my white count and I was also getting Neulasta. At one point, he asked me if I wanted to take a break to see if I could get over feeling so lousy from the virus. I said NO! I wanted to keep going and get finished with the chemo. And as long as my white count stayed high enough, he was ok with that.
I finished chemo as scheduled. But it wasn't until I was finished with chemo that I actually got over the virus.
I know that all of this is very tiring. It's like we hit a wall sometimes during treatment. But your onc will keep close watch on you and your virus and once they review the bloodwork, you can both make a better decision.
Sending strength your way........

Ohh that's just really
Ohh that's just really crappy. Getting a virus while going through chemo. Hope you're going to be OK. Congratulations on finishing the first half, I know I wanted to scrap my last round but they wouldn't let me.
Good luck with the taxol. My hair started coming back in on it. Let us know how you make out.

Congrats on finishing the AC! Yeah, you finish up!
Best wishes.

AC is tough, no doubt about it...
First, congrats! on finishing the AC!
You're tired and worn out, totally understandable. Like Moopy and many others here, my chemo was TAC (= horrible). So, I remember all too well how you're feeling right now...
Of course you're not looking forward to it. But, you MUST finish. Take a deeep breath, and reach deeep down. Find that inner strength - which IS there!
So sorry you caught a virus, which is - most definitely - wearing you down even further, both physically AND emotionally. Take good care of yourself. Rest, rest, rest in order to try to get rid of it.
Let us know how you're doing with the Taxol. We're all here for you, to cheer you on.
Best wishes.
Kind regards, Susan0 -
Hi Jaavon,
I'm glad you're
Hi Jaavon,
I'm glad you're finished with the AC. I didn't have much trouble with the Taxol, and I hope you have even less. When are you going to be finished - if they don't have to postpone one? It doesn't seem fair that anyone going through chemo should get any type of virus, cold, flu, etc... You have enough to deal with. You are one strong warrior and I have a feeling that you are going to do great. Let us know how it goes, if you even get to have it. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
Love and gentle hugs,

Jaavon,
Taxol is not like AC. I had my first Taxol w/Herceptin last Thursday and did fine--no nausea and will have my 2nd of 12 today when you are having your first. You will be in my thoughts today as I have my treatment and sending positive wishes to you during your treatment. Please let us know if you do have your treatment or if it is postponed due to coming down with a bug.
Hugs,
Margo0 -

I am so glad to hear that both of you have finish the AC- It is truly horrible stuff. I wish you luck with Taxol. From everything I have read here on the board it is not nearly as bad as AC. I hope the rest of your treatment passes by quickly. Nancy0 -
The bad part is over!
Jaavon, so happy you are done with AC. I don't think Taxol will affect you as much and you will start to heal. A virus sucks for sure. I always seemed to have a sore throat or a runny nose through chemo. I guess our systems are just suseptible to bugs and viruses during this time. You will regain your health. Congrats!

Jaavon, I hope that your virus doesn't delay your taxol. I just finished my last AC eight days ago. It is the most horrible stuff on earth, I had ( I love using the past tense,it makes me realize that it is over)extreme vomiting and nausea, plus the lovely mouth sores and fatigue. We are half way through!!!!! Jasvon and Joy D:Please let me know how you are doing on the taxol. Love to all Surf0 -

Well I had my first Taxol treatment today...all my labs were good so she continued with the treatment. I still feel kind of funky from the virus, I hope that goes away. I will keep you all updated on my Taxol experience. I also got some Benedryl today...that felt GOOD!!
My hands/feet & bottom of nails got dark due to the Adriamycin, my hands/feet look like they are dirty. :-) I was told by one of the ladies on the site that they should begin to lighten back up will on Taxol...my nurse confirmed that they should.0 -

Sorry for that funky virus. But, glad you were able to stay on chemo schedule.
Just keep your eyes on the finish line!
Kind regards, Susan0 -
Good news! knew you would be able to do it! I saw other people in my chemo group with black nails, very weird, but they did start fading back to normal before they finished with the Taxol. Things keep looking up, now get that virus out the door and you will be doing super!jaavon2002 said:Taxol

You are right. It really does feel like a huge accomplishment. Thanks for all of your supportive posts. surf0 -
Congrats
Congrats on finishing AC, although I do not know what that is as far as Chemo goes, I just been diagnosised and have had any chemo treatment, yet. But glad to hear that you are done and doing well. Continue onward and upward, and you will shine in the end.
