Hello, Mr. Professor. Thanks so much for the update on your lovely wife. She & Kourtnee were foremost on my mind today; and, I'm - unfortunately - just checking in. For whatever it's worth - I'm confident Moopy's symptoms are due to the cumulative effects of chemo. (No, I'm certainly not a doctor. But, I've been there*, exactly where she is now...) Nevertheless, I'm also really glad her doctor is ordering the tests. No such thing as too much precaution, in my humble opinion.

Try not to worry. :-) As I'm sure you probably already know, a few days of delay won't diminish the effectiveness of her chemo. Try not to be too disappointed that it's not yet over & done. Have a restful & relaxing weekend. Moopy probably just needs to gather up a little more strength before that final treatment. I'm really glad you'll be around, to be with her.

* = FYI: For me, total TAC dosage average 10-12 treatments @ 3 weeks apart. I got it all in only 6 treatments, about double-dosed...

Thanks for letting us know. Moopy, i'll still be here with my flashlight on for Tues. I also reported SOB but they didn't say to much. Just that it is a side-effect for some. And that my energy would return in time. Maybe its a good thing they are doing these scans. Now i am worried also. Let us know as soon as you can. The last time i had my blood drawn i got very short of breath and had to go sit outside for awhile (i was light headed also.) They just thought i was anxious and having a panic attack. That could have been. But it is very smart to make sure. Wish they would have for me.

Give Moopy my love and i will be praying that all is well for Tue. Keep us Posted Joe.

SO sorry about the postponement (I can identify...I have another week and a half to go until surgery, and I've already waited two months...it's killing me!!!! no pun intended).

But I'm glad there are no problems other than the cumulative affects of chemo. All this information is so good to have. I feel as though I am prepared for anything that may happen in the not too distant future, thanks to this board. I am so grateful for your posts.

I hope your weekend is calm, uneventful, and maybe even fun! Know that you are loved and that you are in my prayers.

We're back from the hospital now, and I can report that the Moopster's CT scan came out completely clear. The oncologist pointed out that some side effects of chemo are cumulative, so you get extra credit for reading his mind. And four days' delay is a little annoying, especially since we were so looking forward to being done. But it's nice to know that our onc has no problem ordering tests, and nicer still to know that Moopy's lungs are great.

Very happy and relieved that Moopy is completely in the clear. I had shortness of breath during chemo as well. It is frustrating that there is a delay, but maybe you can use this weekend to do something fun instead. Sending all my love,

Shortness of Breath = Anxiety Attack for me

Hope is all well. I have a similar experience - what happened with mine is that my good arm (right side) had about 3 Phlebitis and I was scared about the Pulmonary Artery (this is in connection to the clinical study drug)....so last Friday, I started having shortness of breath and had to be rushed to the Oncologist office....he asked me several questions on when it started - told him a week ago. He tried to call the insurance to get authorization for me to get the CT scan for the lungs...no luck as the insurance was moving their office last friday - april 17. Oncologist gave me a prescription called Xanax as he thinks I am having an Anxiety attack due to the Phlebitis - too much thinking and imagining. If needed, I should take it at least 2x a day....also, told me to go to ER for the tests. Just like Moopy, my lungs are clear of the blood clot but it was a pain to go through those tests - Chest Xray, CT Scan and blood test. Anyway, I take the Xanax drug at times that I feel I am going to have the anxiety attack.....and what it does, it really helps me relax.

Shortness of breath and chest pain can be an anxiety attack or a plumonary embolism, or in my experience, three weeks after my mastectomy surgery, pneumonia. WE CAN'T TELL, and that's why we go in when we have those kind of symptoms!

They did a CT scan, chest x-ray, blood work, and sent me home with antibiotics. Once I knew what it was--the pain almost went away. Fear of the unknown.

Maybe it is anxiety as Joy experienced. Still, I know it is good that my doctor is cautious and not hesitant to order tests. On Monday I get an echocardiogram. If that is ok, then I can have chemo on Tuesday. Of course, any test is cause for nervousness, so I will be relieved to have it done on Monday.

Although I didn't do chemo, I am glad that you are coming out of the tunnel. I think that I will wave one of those big lights they use to advertise with. A giant beacon burning bright for all of my friends who have passed plateaus and are moving forward. Yea Team!!
