stressing that i can't remember
I had a stage four Wilm's tumour when i was three, and have now been clear for nearly eighteen years. i've never really given being a cancer survivor much thought until last year. It suddenly dawned on me that i'd been through something momentous and scary, and more importantly survived. My parents think i'm lucky that i can't really remember but that's what stresses me out the most. it's the biggest and worst thing i've ever faced and i can only remember bits of it and i still don't fully understand all the treatment i had and it's effects.
i really give myself a hard time trying to remember. Has anyone been through something similar? or has anyone got any suggestion? i would really appreciate some input.

The easiest way to ...
Dear ami1,
The easiest way to locate other CSN members with similar experiences is to type keywords (such as "Wilm’s tumor," "childhood cancer survivor,” "memory problems," etc.) on the search bar at the top of the home page. You can refine your search by clicking on the “Advance search” link listed underneath the search field. The major categories of content on CSN are blogs, discussion boards, personal pages, etc. For example, if you are looking for a specific posting on a discussion board, you can limit your search to discussion boards only by clicking on the "discussion" and "advanced search" button at the bottom of the "advanced search" box. Remember that you must be logged on if you want to post anything on a discussion boards, view personal pages, use the chat room, etc.
Cordially,
Your CSN Staff0 -
I haven't posted yet on this
I haven't posted yet on this forum, either, but I had to when I read the post you'd made. You basically took the words out of my mouth, I guess. I was diagnosed with stage III hepatoblastoma at 15 months and have been disease free for 18 years, as I'm now 22. I never gave it a second thought until I ran into some health problems in college and all of the sudden, my doctors were all asking about my history... and I didn't know what to tell them. I've never been able to get my parents to talk about it at all, so I tried requesting my records from the hospital that I was treated at when I was little, but I didn't get much from them. As much as it sucks, it's great to hear that there's someone out there going through the same emotions. I hope you check back here, since your post is from a while ago.0 -
Were you records destroyed? I have recently tried to obtained mine for disability, and found out my records had been destroyed from the oncologist who lost her medical license, radiologist and the hospital where I had treatment. I was diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkin's and wasn't espected to live. It has been 23 years since my treatment, and I'm experiencing alot of health problems. I am thankful to be alive!rutensar said:I haven't posted yet on this
