biopsy

G'day everyone,
Well I have managed to get into a kidney specialist. He is doing a kidney biopsy at 12.30 tomorrow. Iam hoping that the biopsy will show some form of nephritis. The Doctor is fairly certain that it is amyloidosis. The tests are conclusive ,the biopsy is stained with congo red dye and if it floureces green they are amloid proteins. There is no cure for amyloidosis and the treatment consists of harvesting T cells from my blood followed by intensive chemo then a T cell transplant. Apparently a lot of patients don't make it thru the chemo or transplant. If you do it may buy you a couple of years at best. There is no way of removing the amyloid proteins , they are like nuclear waste and don't break down they instead occupy any available space in your organs. It really is not high on the list of diseases I want to have.
I will know for sure by the end of the week.
Fingers crossed,Ron.

Ron: You came out on top before, and you will again. If your battle with cancer taught you anything, it is that you should not pay a lot of attention to statistics. Meanwhile, I will be praying for great biopsy results. Monica0
