    Hello,
I am very sorry for this news. But please do not give up hope. You will hear from other people here who have/had cancer in thier lungs and they keep fighting. It is very difficult time for you now, so get all your strength together and you will fight and win the battle. There is still hope. And God is by your side, He will not leave you alone.

What did the doctor said is the next step?

    I will pray for you.

    Best Regards, Eleonora

    Hi Tennislover -

I am sorry for your bad news, but please know that there is much hope here for Stage IV folks (I being one, although mets were to the liver.)

Please don't feel there is no hope. Instead share more details of your situation with us as well as your oncologist's treatment plan, and I think you will find much support.

Please try and be hopeful and contact us with more details so that we can help. Meanwhile you are in my thoughts and prayers.

    Take care,
    Betsy

Dear Tennislover, that is rotten news and I'm so very sorry to hear that. I was so devasted to hear my friend's (Mark) cancer had spread to his liver and then later to both his lungs. That was after an intense surgery removing most of his colon and a iliostomy bag. I wasn't sure if he could handle this bad news or if the treatment would be enough (just ask everyone on this board how many times I posted letters in anquish, asking questions and crying on shoulders). Remarkably Mark has handled the last two months of chemo well (Xeloda, Avastin, Oxy.) and according to the last CT scan, it is working. There IS hope! Don't let this break you down. Mark is also following the McDougall Program (www.drmcdougall.com) for healthy eating. Please tell us what treatments are planned for you. You are in my thoughts.

I am soo very sorry. All I can tell you is to hang in ther and FIGHT. My first lung met was resected in 2004 - I was doing great... almost at 2 years NED, and then another lung met. I have had 3 thoracotomies... and I always bounce back. I just finished radiation this week, combined with xeloda. I work 80% and see friends and live my life.

This is NOT (repeat NOT) the end. It is just a turn in the road. Get more info from your docs. How much cancer is in the lungs? Is it surgically resectable? WHat chemo options remain? Etc...

Keep fighting. I just saw my onc today and he can't believe how good I am doing. PROVE THEM ALL WRONG. Don't let cancer run your life... continue to live and appreciate every moment you have.

Yes, it is bad news. As Kerry told me once, you only need to stick around long enough for a cure to be discovered.

hang in there and keep us posted. You will remain in my thoughts and prayers. jana

    Hi Tennislover:

I am so sorry to hear your news. I've got tears rolling down my face as I write now. but I'm sure I can't even begin to imagine what you're going throug right now.

But please do remember that one bikelover name Lance Armstrong won 7 Tour de France, powered by his post-cancer lungs.

There is hope and there is proof in abundance that cures do happen. Please keep the faith, fight the fight and join all the others who have survived stage IV cancer and have thrived afterwards.

You're right, tomorrow will be a better day.

Please keep us posted on what your course of treatement will be so we can root for you!

    Dear Tennislover,

My eyes overflow with tears as well, but my heart is filled with HOPE for you. As the other posts have so well said, you have many options. Please BELIEVE that you will be one of the many who respond to the new treatments that are now available to lung mets. I know that tomorrow will be a better day for you. Until then, feel your pain and wake up ready to battle.

    Love,

    Kay

Let yourself cry today and then fight tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that...

This is not good news, but there is still hope... there is always hope. There are many IV survivors; this site alone proves that.

I was also going to say, you only have to live long enough to find a cure or you are cured. I believe that the new research findings prove how close they are to a cure.

In the meantime, research alternative treatments to supplement your oncologist's recommendations. Cancer can't live or grow in an alkaline environment. Research an alkaline diet and see if that works for you as it has worked for so many others.

Above all, live each and every day.

    Hugs to you!

I wish this for you, Hugs are being sent!

the good news is that you have time, and in that time, a cure may present itself. I have had mets to the lungs since 2003, have taken most of the treatments available, and have completely obliterated the tumors twice, only to have them come back. in addition to whatever else you might do, find and read the book"Your Child Doesn't Have To Die"... Hi, I know that you're feeling down right now and it feels like the end of the world, but tomorrow you will wake up, read all of these replies and be determined to fight this. Don't let anyone, most of all doctors get you down. Just remember, it's all in God's hands. He is the ultimate physician. With his help, you can and will get through this bump in the road. You are in my prayers.

    God bless you,

Like everyone else I am very sorry to hear your news but I have to agree with them about cry for a spell (not too long) and then pull up the ole bootstrapes and change your fight tactics.

Find out your options, come here and we will help you decipher if you need that. Get ready to fight like hell. I too had mets to my liver and one to my lung or so they said for 18 months but when it "went away", the docs now say it may never have been one since they did not do a biopsy. What specifically does the scan report say?

Get a copy and ask for help with wording. As Terri says, join in your treatment plan. I think that is why I am doing well today.

In my rush for posting before I forgot to mention that my husband has an aunt who was diagnosed with lung cancer almost eleven years ago.

She is very much alive and well to this day! And she goes like the energizer bunny!

    There is HOPE.
