nasopharygeal after radiation

My husband was diagnosed at stage 4 in Oct.2002. He had chemo. w/rad. and then more chemo. Radiation was front, back, and both sides, with a double blast directly to nasal site. His neck feels like wood with skin over it. He is out of treatment for over one year. The hardness, stiffness has gotten worse. Are there any suggestions/advice for helping with this scar tissue? Also, he has constant ear infection, crusty drainage, with hearing loss in his other "dry" ear. He is only 45 but will be retiring in 2 months. Also gets fevers, and bright red skin inflammation where radiation occured. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You!!

    I was also diagnosed with stage 4 nasopharyngeal in October 2002. I had some minor high end hearing loss in one ear as a result of the radiation. My other ear gave me no trouble until recently when it became clogged and began leaking fluid. This fluid is cerebrospinal fluid, and since I have not had any head injury, it seems like the IMRT radiation I received in 2003 may have caused the insult to my dura. A cerebrospinal fluid leak can put you at risk for meningitis, which would result in fevers and stiffness in the neck. This may be something explore with your husband's health care provider.     Just wanted to know if anyone also experiences post nasal drainage after radiation and if this clears up.
