Hot Flashes a year after tamoxifen--symptom of recurrence???

Hi, It's me, again. :^) This is a different topic, thus a different posting. Can anyone tell me if hot flashes might be considered a symptom of an undetected tumor? I have heard that night sweats might indicate the presence of cancer, but what about daytime and/or evening "hot flashes?" I am on an antidepressant that minimized my hotflashes during my tamoxifen years. Thanks, in advance, J

Hi J....night sweats are usually indicative of cancers like leukemia or lymphoma. Did your treatment cause you to be menopausal? That might account for the hot flashes (or power surges). I think hot flashes are more a symptom of a hormone imbalance than a cancer.

Original poster should be checked for menopause, even if she is still young or having occasional periods. My mother went into to menopause in her fifties and had hot flashes the rest of her life!

My first chemo treatment I had started my first day of my period. I had a normal period for about 5 days in Dec 2003 and never had my period again. I was 52 yrs old. Last June I was put on Arimidex and now I have alot of hot flashes, morning noon and night.

tamoxofin causes hot flashes. I have been taking it for 4yrs. It's not a tumor. I also take a natural pill, no hot flashes any more. Do not take without asking your Dr.! it is called avlimil. You do not need a perscription. My DR. said ok, yours may not. Woddy
