Breast Cancer

Hi Carol,
I'm really sorry to hear about your breast cancer diagnosis. I hope you will have a speedy recovery and that your cancer will never come back. You've just got to try and keep a good and positive outlook and try to enjoy life to the fullest. I know that's easier said than done. Also, keep a strong relationship with God. Just talking to him every night strengthens me. I don't have cancer, but my Daddy was just diagnosed with advanced stage prostate cancer this past May, so I do know how it feels to be affected by it emotionally. I am very close to him and hate to see him going through this more than anything. I just turned 30 and am not ready to lose my Daddy anytime soon. He is the rock in our family. He's the one that has always kept all of us together. I have a 2 year old little boy who idolizes him. His cancer is beyond trying to cure, so they are just treating it with hormone therapy trying to slow it down and stop it from growing. He tries his best to continue living his life to the fullest, even though he knows his health may get worse any day.
You've just got to try and be strong and keep your faith. Cancer is a scary thing. I've had grandmothers, grandfathers, and aunts to die of the disease, so of course I worry about having it one day too. But when the Lord is ready to take us, it can happen at any time and in any way.
Well, I'm sure you are going to be ok and I hope you have a good Christmas. If you ever need to talk, feel free to e-mail me @ mebmiller@netzero.com.
Take care and may God comfort and strengthen you every day.

Carol: I have breast cancer too. Two of my sisters had breast cancer also. It is helpful to me to focus on taking the next step in treatment. But I realize in life there are no guarantees. I think spiritual belief can help you get through this time feeling less alone and scared. Posting here is also a great idea! The other thing to remember is that the field of breast cancer has made so many advances in just the last 10 years!! I do believe that we all have a greater chance of survival. My poor grandmother died of Breast cancer in 1964. You can’ t believe the tremendous progress since then!! There was little effective treatment back then. In the last 10 yrs, the treatment my sisters received and I received were different and possibly more effective.
I hear your pain and fear. But I think there are reasons to be hopeful. I pray God will bless you and bring you peace!!!❤️

Hello Carol, So sorry that you're feeling down. It's perfectly understandable. You'll find great support and friendship on this site. Please remember -- there have been tremendous strides in breast cancer treatment in the last 10 years. You have a much better chance of survival and a normal life than your sister did. I suggest trying to find an in-person breast cancer support group in your area. STAY STRONG!
