Fibromyalgia

I am a 28 year cancer survivor. I am almost 10 years cancer free. I am now dealing with chronic pain...perhaps fibromyalgia. I have had both radiation and chemotherapy. Is there anyone else experiencing chronic pain?

    Not only chronic pain but chronic fatigue. I've finally found a wonderful oncologist inmylocal are who will listen to me and has helped me a lot with getting information.
    I have breast cancer and have been in remission for four years but now I have real pain in my joints and some of my muscles. No amoutn of rest seems tohelp me in not feeling tired. She said that there is a study they are doing regarding the depletion of bone mass due to chemo and radiation. as soon as she let's me knwo the Journal sites I will come back and email you.

    i am a 32 year old who had all at 13 yrs of age and now have fibromyalgia along with osteoperosis, and nerve damage.

    I am a 38 yr old survivor of Leuckemia and I have been cancer free for 4 yrs now and I have chronic pain throughout my entire body. I have just begun to search for help. If you have any advice at all please let me know. I currently take pain medicine daily just to get up and moving. Please let me know what you find out. Thank you,

    i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia only my doctor doesn't seem to think the rheumatologist diagnosed me properly..i have severe muscle weakness as well as chronic pain and fatigue

    chemo with fibromyalgia
    to auntieq--I just finished chemo and radiation for a rare form of lung cancer--and after each round of chemo I believe it affected the pain from fibromyalgia. My nortriptilene was keeping the fibro at a minumum of pain for almost 10 years but after each chemo treatment the pain came back and shoots into my body wherever it wants to and is debilitating at times. I was given a neck epidural for a bulging disc in my neck and a pinched nerve in my elbow. Can't seem to persuade the pain doctor that the epidural made the whole sitution worse, and I wouldm't recommend an epidural to anyone unless they are looking for more pain than they have now. Worst mistake I ever made was getting the epidual.

    I found your post very interesting because I may have to have a couple of surgeries soon and they are talking about giving me an epidural instead of general anaesthesia because of some of my health issues. So I would get the epidural instead of the anaesthesia just the once, not as a pain reliever. Do you think I would have a chance of increased pain too long term if I just had the needle once?

    I have a ton of side effects from treatments like fibromyalgia (I personally think this is linked to chemo/rads but they haven't said that to me but I do have the fibro for sure, have arthritis from the rads and nerve damage from some of the chemo drugs I had. I have pain and numbness and tingly legs and hands all the time and have had for over 15 years.

    Finding a diagnosis for overall pain after a few years of treatment can be a long and frustrating process. The diagnosis depends on a few things but for me I found just finding the right doctor was the key. Especially where fibromyalgia is concerned. Some doctors don't even believe it exists. Sheeesh. I am in Canada and was finally diagnosed with it, I knew I had it for years, but had a heck of a time getting a doctor to diagnose me. Anywho up here only a rheumatologist can diagnose it, as far as I have been told, so see if you can find a good one and get an appointment.

    I was told by a neurologist that certain drugs can cause nerve issues and of course fibromyalgia isn't only from cancer treatments, can appear to non cancer patients too for who knows what reasons. A rheumatologist is your first good bet though as they can handle arthritis diagnosis, bursitis and all kinds of issues so that's the best first stop I think, for you.

    Seeing a good neurologist too is probably a good move. I don't know what kind of cancer you had or what treatments you had but if you have overall pain and didn't before the treatment odds are something in it affected your pain levels.

    I am 21 years old and 6 years in remision. I have chronic pain all of the time--worse at night. I was diagnosed with chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy, plantar flatistis, carpal tunnel, and just a few days ago chemotherapy induced Fibromyalgia. 

     

    Im in so much pain that I cannot stand or walk anymore. It hurts everywhere .
