Treatment
I had RP tbut when I got done with radiation and recovered it was mentioned. I had to have a biopsy for lung nodules. Got over that and then they decided Ineeded radiotherapy.
The last thing I want is another doctor cutting on me or more radiation right now. I am getting HT now so not alot more that I want.
Only when I force things does it bleed badly. I can live with it.

Sucralfate worked for me
I had lower colon damage after IMRT. A subsequent colonoscopy indicated that it was raw & bleeding. My oncologist, who is also a CaP survivor and had suffered colon damage after his radiation, prescribed Sucralfate, 1 GM Tablets. I believe that I was on them for at least 4 months. I can't say for sure because that was 10 years ago, Three years later I had another colonoscopy, and I asked the doctor to pay special attention to the damaged area. There was no sign of damage or that it had ever existed.0 -
Interesting! Had radiation and chemotherapy for rectal cancer. I had numerous scans (CT, PET ,MRI) and all showed no cancer but there was scar tissue. Bowel movements are regular and normal. Now my oncologist wants me to have a sigmoidoscopy and this concerns me . His response was that he wants to make sure there is no cancer and the sigmoidoscopy will ensure the issue. My concern is ; what happens if they want to take biopsies and they disturb the scar tissue ? When scar tissue is disturbed and healing occurs, that can create erratic cell growth. Can this cause regeneration of cancer cells once the area is subject to exposure ? Just curious, has anyone had a similar situation?

Hi,
I guess my question to donnyg is are you having any issues, bleeding, pain, constipation? Like what lumberjack said, if you not having any issues any everything appears normal why mess with it. If you are having issues and the doctors agree it due to the scare tissue, then deal with it.
