Annual checkups

I am right at 6 years post surgery and almost 6 years from the end of chemo, and brachytherapy with no recurrence. I still go for annual checkups with my oncology GYN. How many of you continue to do this? I really love my Dr but she is retiring at the end of December. I will still go to the same oncology center and the PA people they have are super nice, but I’m wavering on the annual checkups. 🤷‍♀️

Good morning Ribbons. I too am 6 years out from diagnosis. I had serous endometrial intraepithelial carcinoma. I still have checks and will continue to. My cancer is very. rare and retrospective studies are much more commonly used. I will continue my checks as long as they tell me to come back because they can gather data on outcomes. Glad to hear you are no recurrence! BluebirdOne and ZsaZsa were diagnosed when we were. They have no recurrence either. And dear LadyMox was a different story.

Hey Ribbons!

I am 12 years out and I still go for a pelvic which include a pap test (cancer has be found to return on the cuff) and a CA125. I know it may be a little much, but I will be part of decision making. It's just me.

The hardest part was finding a new doc when I moved out of state. Even with good insurance, no one wanted to take me. I just wanted someone to 'follow' me.

Thank you. I plan to keep going for the annual checkup, I don’t know if I will have to pick another Dr, there are three others where I go, I’m hoping to just stay with the PA ladies because I am familiar with them.
