Annual checkups

I am right at 6 years post surgery and almost 6 years from the end of chemo, and brachytherapy with no recurrence. I still go for annual checkups with my oncology GYN. How many of you continue to do this? I really love my Dr but she is retiring at the end of December. I will still go to the same oncology center and the PA people they have are super nice, but I’m wavering on the annual checkups. 🤷♀️

Good morning Ribbons. I too am 6 years out from diagnosis. I had serous endometrial intraepithelial carcinoma. I still have checks and will continue to. My cancer is very. rare and retrospective studies are much more commonly used. I will continue my checks as long as they tell me to come back because they can gather data on outcomes. Glad to hear you are no recurrence! BluebirdOne and ZsaZsa were diagnosed when we were. They have no recurrence either. And dear LadyMox was a different story.

Hey Ribbons!
I am 12 years out and I still go for a pelvic which include a pap test (cancer has be found to return on the cuff) and a CA125. I know it may be a little much, but I will be part of decision making. It's just me.
The hardest part was finding a new doc when I moved out of state. Even with good insurance, no one wanted to take me. I just wanted someone to 'follow' me.
Let us know what you decide, but I am with Forherself.

Ribbons, if you go to the Tigard facility, I do not recommend JG.

Hi all! Did I see my name mentioned? Sorry, I have been MIA, just enjoying life. I am now seven years post dx and treatment, still no recurrences. Fingers crossed. I still go for any and all checkups suggested, I see a female gyne for an annual check, plus all the other normal screenings. Lots of screenings as they found some weird looking breast tissue, not active cancer, but needs to be monitored. So I get an annual mammogram, breast MRI, and ultrasound. The weird stuff that they don't like has not changed so they won't even do a biopsy. I also have an inverted nipple, which started all of the concern.
Glad to see a few old friends. I miss everyone.

Hi ! I am new to this board .. I am almost 6 yrs out from serous uterine stage 1a with s/p hysterectomy with omentum removed followed by 6 rounds of chemo and brachytherapy sandwiched in between rounds 4 and 5 . I went to urinate today and found very wet underwear with very light pink about a teaspoon in my underwear… Notsure if I should be concerned . Has this happened to anyone else .I feel scared again Susan57

hello, I am 14 years out from carcinosarcoma with several recurrences. I am considered stable disease. My onc retired but he placed me with a woman who did her fellowship with him so I feel comfortable with her. Same group and they have all my records. The doc continues to follow my case closely for recurrence. Now it seems the side effects of radiation are starting to show themselves so it’s more important than ever (for my situation) that I continue checkups. Cancer is unpredictable. An annual visit seems a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Hey Susan57, when in doubt, call the gyn onc office and see if you can get in for a check up. Outside of 5 years it is hard to find someone to follow you, but if you are in the same city you had all your treatment I suspect they will be happy to see you. I wouldn't say it is anything, it is just better to get things checked out.
