New here, CEA panic

My dad was diagnosed with stage 2b colorectal cancer in 2022. After chemo pills, radiation and me giving him ivermectin, the tumor disappeared. Before cancer his cea was 2.78. In January it was 1.11.

We had a follow up in September of 2023 and his CEA was 2.9. Not great but it didn't concern me too much.

Dad is almost 82. He did not want infusion chemo, nor the surgery. His last 2 MRIs showed no cancer, only a residual mass, like a pencil eraser that the MRI guy said could be dead tissue or hemorrhoids.

We got blood work done today. His blood count is perfect, his metabolic panel is perfect except for kidney function is barely out of the normal range. However his CEA score is now 10.6

So we are seeing the doctor next week and obviously will do the MRI/CT scan again. We don't have cancer run in the family, his colorectal cancer never metastasized, his mass hasn't grown, he says he feels great.

I still give him ivermectin, and I was giving him fenvenzadole, the latter of which I just read can cause liver problems which I think could raise CEA.

Has anyone been in a situation where their CEA jumped like this? Thank you.

Ps. Please keep the lectures about ivermectin at a minimum. I believe it is why his tumor disappeared and I'm trying to keep him from being cutm

Can you please tell me about the chemo pill I have looked all over the internet and can't find anything about it

I am assuming the chemo pills are Xeloda or the generic Capecitabine?

I agree Ivermectin and Fenben block cancer pathways and helps to kill the cancer. It is amazing how parasites, fungus and viruses are so similar to cancer behaviors.

What is the dosage/timing of IVM and FenBen?

Is your dad still on the chemo pills or did the CEA go up after they took him off of them?

My CEA jumped, and they found a mass on my liver. That was taken care of, ten years ago next month, and I have been fine ever since.

I hope all is going well with your dad.

I have stage 4 colon cancer.

The highest my CEA in 2009 was 3.6 the doctor said it chemo drugs.

Today with stage 4 my the CEA is 1.6.

The CEA I was told if leave got about 12 it time to do CAT scan. When do CAT scan or a MRI I am clear. A PET scan is the only thing that works for me.

Most a scan or a MRI will show cancer and the CEA and C19 with show cancer.

My doctors today only go by pain and where at or PET scan. But even pain on me it not best I have a lot back ingenious. So I am down have PET scan every few months

I would ask your dad if has pain where pain and how bad is the pain .

my CEA at stage 3 colon cancer was 4.0. After chemo and surgery it went down to 1.2. Two years later, it was up to 17.

it slowly went down and is now 1.2 again

My oncologist always told me she was less concerned about the actual number than she was about the trend. If it goes up and up and up and never down, that might be concerning. If it goes up and down, that is less of a worry. naturally, if it increases to hundreds or thousands, that is a different situation.

curious how long it took to get to 17? my wife has it rising and it's getting close to that number. she's s-iv Liver, lung seemingly clear at 5+ years

and did it rise during treatment and drop during treatment? or resolve on its own?

My highest CEA was in 2009 on Oxaliplatin was 3.6 with stage4.

In 2018 still stage 4 per CAT scan CEA was 1.4 , in 2022 CEA 1.6 on Lonsurf

It did not work that good my doctor said { that does do me any good}.

Trust the PET scan best tool for colan cancer.

In 2010 some had over 500

For most the CEA does good easy test doctors. My doctor in 2010 said if got over 20 we will to do a CAT scan.

I can not tell you anything else

thanks for responding, that's amazing. 15 years s4!!!

I should have also mentioned theres a rise in the CA 19-9 and with both above the cutoffs and the scans clear I am worried

I Can see you worry .

It is odd to leave go up

Some times if a smoker is close by can rize leave.

II Would on internet and see what rates the leave besides cancer

it rose over the course of a year and then dropped by itself. There is a clinical correlation between some lung inflammation and mucous plugs in the lungs, causing a rise in CEA.

Do not place more importance on the CEA than the pet scan. I had numerous CEA scores that were higher when I was NED than when I had full-blown colon cancer including three lymph nodes. While potentially helpful, CEA alone does not have a clear correlation in all cases, and diagnosis of any future cancer will of necessity require more than one diagnostic point

Our oncologist was concerned about Ivermectin messing with a specific enzyme (I think in liver) while on Lonsurf -- did you encounter anything related to that or do you happen to have info on that specifically?

I have no idea how Ivermectin interacts with that specific drug. Ivermectin is extremely safe. Dad took it with Xeloda and his liver was fine. I still give it to him 3 days a week.

If you're on Lonsurf, which I just read is sort of a last resort drug, I wouldn't see the harm in taking Ivermectin

Yeah. That's what I think too. We'll see I guess.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

FYI I was diagnosed with stage 4 colan cancer in 2009 I have had 106 chemotherapy treatments.

I did ask my doctor how can live with stage 4 last November. I was trying find the die they used to live a long time.

Since then I ask other doctors and they confirm the answer. Not one any one wants to here. So my wife's diet worked and the chemotherapy.

    Good luck

    Today I am on Fruzaqla

Q : What was the dosage on the ivermectin?. I'm thinking about adding it in to my regimen. I have some at home, curious how best to go about getting more too.

Q: Did you guys choose pills vs the pump and why? (Or was the pump not an option.)

I noticed some folks mentioned parasites. I'd highly recommend SCRAM. 17day pill based treatment. Very effective.

There is no harm using Ivermectin along with xeloda. I have been on xeloda, 1500mg B.I.D, Ivermectin 36mg every other day for over 3 years and liver counts are very good.

My onc ran across some Asian studies for Stage IV and was found that 2mg/kg 5 days a week with 2 days off had benefit so since I am StageIV NED I am on that protocol now. I take 48mg Ivermectin, Mebendazole (human form of Fenben) 2 336mg caps in the A.M, 1 336mg cap in afternoon, 1 336mg cap before bed. If I was to take Fenben Pure then I wouldn't chance a dose higher 220mg B.I.D.

    Hello,

I would first say that CEA is not always a good predictor of colon cancer activity. Both me and my mother were diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer 3 years apart. Her CEA levels fluctuated greatly with cancer activity, mine did not. The highest my CEA ever got was 5.5. That was at the initial diagnosis.

I rising CEA is of concern for sure. I would definitely get the oncologist's opinion. It's always better to be safe than sorry…especially with cancer.

The highest my CEA leave in 2009 on chemotherapy was 3.6 stage 4 cancer.

The last time about 2 years ago 1.6 CEA leave with stage 4. Now just CAT SCANs
