I have had many, many Avastin doses (approx 48 ) over the years. I received it along with the FOLFOX, FOLFIRI and Xeloda regimens. Its difficult for me to parse out which side effects are from what. But, I believe my bloody noses can be attributed to the Avastin, as well as an elevation in BP. Although the BP could just be a normal aging thing…who knows?! I also had watery eyes and runny nose which may have been from the Avastin

Those same symptoms are what we are seeing too! Except the bloody nose haven’t had one of those yet.

My dad had Avastin with Folfiri. The major issue for him was Nose bleed and for the vary reason it was stopped after 3 or so cycles. But beside that no major side effects.

I was taking Avastin with FOLFIRI. Drove up my blood pressure. They can give you a medication to regulate your BP if it becomes a problem. If clotting becomes an issue you will be prescribed an anticoagulate. That actually happened to me without Avastin on FOLFOX. It's likely to be helpful for any clotting issues, though. I would try not to worry too much about those things.

I took Avastin and with 5FU, Oxaliplatin, Irinotecan, and Xeloda (sequentially) over a period of approximately six months. It caused severe stiffness in my arms and neck. The stiffness started in month four and came on slowly. By month six, I could barely turn my head; I couldn't reach my arm out to push the buttons on the radio in the car; I needed help putting on a cardigan and could not put on a pullover. I could raise my arms only half-way - they would not go higher unless I used one hand to lift the other arm. This meant I couldn't open kitchen cabinets, etc. Symptoms eased when I went off the drug and then disappeared completely a few months later.

They didn't know why I was having those symptoms. Then, they removed the Avastin and the symptoms went away.

Hello. I'm new to this site. I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2009 and I was treated with Folfox and Avastin after a resection of my colon (Hemicolectomy). The only major side effect I experienced from treatment was peripheral neuropathy, which I still have to this day. I manage it to the best of my ability depending on the weather.....burning sensation in feet during hot weather and stinging pins and needles in colder weather, hands and feet. The Avastin drug was fairly new in 2009. My oncologist strongly recommended it and it worked for me. All my scans and colonoscopies since then have been clear.
