Prayers please ...... Amy_Jo
I had an open neph on 3/8/18. My pathology showed clear margins. Two weeks later I had another scan which found blood clots in my lung. April 15 I began having excruciating back pain, after report to the ER I was told my scan showed lesions on my spine liver and lungs. I had a pet scan and biopsy of my liver yesterday doctors are confused because my scans prior to my surgery showed no other lesions I was told I was cancer free after my surgery. I start radiation treatment for my back Monday. My oncologist is going to meet with me once my liver biospy results return to determine the plan of attack. It's so frustrating because I had began to feel better and was looking forward to living my life now I'm back to square one. Please pray for my family I am a mother of 4 ages 2,5,13,16. ImI ready to fight for my life - if any of you have any advice please share. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers so far. I am in NC so far my treatment has been at Forsyth if anyone has suggestions I'm open. At this point my oncologist are sure if my renal cell spread or if this a different cancer. I should know more by Tuesday.

Amy Jo, I will be praying that you find answers and peace. Being a mother of 4 myself I know you are a fighter.
Can I ask your pathology staging? Was your cancer an aggressive grade?
It must be frustrating and very frightening to be on such a roller coaster right now.
Sending you love and prayers.

advice
Sorry to hear about your situation, Amy. My only advice is to hold on until your oncologist receives your biopsy and is able to make a plan for you. If you are being cared for by an RCC specialist then he/she will know the plethera of possible routes to take...I'm sure you are in good hands. The other piece of advice I'd give you is to become a member of smart patients. Tell your story to the group. There are a few of those members that are being treated in NC and can give you some pointers.
Wishing the best outcome for you!

Amy, hold on
I have seen, me included, people who went from the "We got it all" to having 20 mets in only weeks. It seems the mets were always there like seeds. The primary tumor (mother ship) restrains them from growth at this sage. With the primary tumor re moved, the secondary tumors grow un restricted. Bam! out of control.
There is good news. And it worked for me. The tumors exhibited that they were controlled by some chemical signal. It made me a good candidate for both immunotherapies and tki's.I've had to change drugs every so often, but I am working on my 8th year now. It is much better than my summer 2012 life expectancy.
And radiation has done wonders in eliminating bone met pain.
Enter your treatments believing you can do this because so many of us have done it. Pull from our karma.

I have heard of amazing work using your own DNA, I want to say that identifies and creates an exact treatment for you as an individual.
