Upcoming scans and bronchoscopy
We're still trying to figure out for sure what these lung nodules are. The needle biopsy in August was inconclusive, and landed me a week in the hospital with a pneumothroax. Liquid biopsy showed a genetic mutaion that, while consistent with RCC, was not also present in the initital tumor. Assumption is that it's likely mets, but we need some kind of positive confirmation to be sure. I have to admit, I'm a little anxious about this one. I hate going under anesthesia, and I am even more anxious about the tube down my throat. I know I just have to suck it up and deal, but all the possible ramifiations leave me stressed. I know I need to not focus on those possible outcomes that may never happen, but that's a real challenge for me. I'm really trying; it's just not as easy as I'd like. I guess I just want to get a treatment plan in place and to really know what we're dealing with - not in that order, of course. And because it's lung-related, I'm a bit freaked out, despite knowing about these nodules for a while now. Maybe it's becoming more real, I don't know. This whole year seems so surreal, I can't even begin to explain. Trying to bury myself in work, but even that's getting harder. I just want to get it done already. Hell, right now, I'd settle for a hug and an 'it's gonna be ok" from someone reassuring. Sorry for the downer rant today - just needed to get that out.

No need to be sorry! Wish we could all hug you and give you reassurance. I am sorry about the waiting game. Oh the mental scenarios!! Totally normal and you are doing well. I hope they get all of this sorted out soon so you can have some peace of mind!

We will listen
Sending any hugs and positive thoughts to you and your loved ones. Why does one's mind drift to the non positive thoughts when waiting for any medical news? Try and focus on a positive plan until you get the info. I know it's harder said than done. Have a good weekend and try and relax.

It's good to hear from someone who's been through it, and for whom it went smoothly. After my botched needle biopsy, the words "outpatient procedure" don't quite mean the same thing.

...to bury myself in work." I did OK a week or so ago, but this week, it's been a lot harder to focus. I do feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one who struggles with this. Hopefully it will be behind me soon. Thanks!

Had the bronchoscopy yesterday
It seemed to go alright, though I had a nasty reaction to the anesthesia (Versed and Fentanyl). They said they had to give me extra for some reason - maybe I have a high tolerance. Either way, felt like crapola all day yesterday -chills, fever, very tired - and still not close to 100% today. Going to do my work calls and rest in between them today. Should have results by end of the week - at least I hope so. I have a work trip next week and would like to know what we're dealing with by then.
