Good article for newly diagnosed or recurrent EC

I found it thanks.  I went to Stanford and saw a surgeon who I thought would consider surgery he said he did not do surgery on anything under 5cm, I think. I tend to go brain dead. He referred me to a radiologist who scheduled an MRI to see how far the cancer was in my vagina cuff. results were good and she suggested 3 brachytherapy and a course of 25 VMAT.  Just when I had resolved myself to deciding on radiation someone told me that the Mayo clinic has a program for early reacurrance surgery.  The article I just read mentioned surgical resection so now I don't know what to do? I would just like to make a decision has it has now been 3 months since I found this out?

has anyone out there had surgery vs radiation?  Thanks so much

Cheese, I had a pap as part of the testing I had before my endometrial cancer was diagnosed.  So it was not an annual screening pap smear.  The pap results stated "adenocarcinoma, most likely of endometrial origin."  Of course, this was after I had abnormal vaginal bleeding.  At the time of my diagnosis in 1999, annual paps were the standard of care, but if I'm not mistaken the standard of care in recent years has been 3 years, at least for middle-aged women.  I remember being very unhappy when I read that the experts were considering making changes to the guidelines on the frequency of pap tests, because there is data out there that, while the pap test is not an endometrial cancer screening test, endometrial cancer can in some cases be picked up incidentally on routine pap tests.

That’s my point MoKay. And what makes me even more angry is that arrogant **** didn’t tell me he wasn’t doing PAPs. I was under the impression he was doing them and if I knew he wasn’t I would have insisted on having one.  Perhaps I should consult another lawyer but this practice is suppose to be the best malpractice firm in Philly. 

since my cancer was diagnosed with a pap. I tell everyone I know to continue with yearly paps even if you have to pay for it yourself. It may not be a great tool but you use what you have. At any rate, we have the right to make informed choices. 

Yes, I know the guidelines changed but my point was that he never informed me and I would have insisted on a PAP even if I had to pay. I only found out he wasn’t doing them after I was diagnosed and I asked one of his colleagues what my last PAP showed. My Gyn had retired. 

No, the lawyer didn’t explain. Just sent me a letter. And I’m getting close to the 2 year limit For taking any action. It makes me mad that it took them almost a year to determine I didn’t have a case. I was checking with the regular,y and they were saying they were waiting on their expert opinion. 

I had my hysterectomy for my uterus cancer in 2009 in Texas, a great surgeon who did a speculum exam every year. Then we moved to California in 2013. I went to see a gyn oncologist he did not use a speculum so I saw another specialist the head of his Dept, he did not use one either just examined me. So I had my gp do one, it came out clear. 2016 back to specialist new Dr again no speculum. 2016 diagnosed with breast cancer the first biopsy missed it. I asked  my surgeon to refer me to gyn specialist because I felt I was not getting the care I should the new gyn used  a speculum and found that i had Recurrence.  I was told that they do not usually  do follow up exams after a couple of years because this is considered such a low risk For recurranc.   It is enough to drive one insane trying to find a decent doctor.  And I did research on the doctors I had all had great reviews.....
