The spleen recycles used red blood cells

...as do the kidneys.  If you have "lost" a whole or partial kidney, the spleen has to pick up the slack.  At this point I wouldn't be too concerned, but just make sure the Dr. tells them to keep an eye on it at subsequent scans.

Glad the rest of the scan looked OK-gongrats.

    Congrats!

    Congrats on being NED!

My daughter had that one time and the next scan she had was normal. Doctor was not concerned.  The second scan was for another issue not for the slightly enlarged spleen seen on her first report.

    Happy for your  NED report!

I see that in a large percent

I see that in a large percent of the population. The spleen is one source of immune response in the body. It could mean nothing or a range of things from a prior case of mono to a current viral infection. If it is only mildly enlarged most radiologists won't even comment on it.

    My brother had an enlarged

My brother had an enlarged spleen recently, they found that he had an infection.  I also think it can be nothing but the spleen working harder with the one kindey like Donna said.  :)
