Hugs Lin. I'm very sorry. I hope your dad is okay. Know that you did more for him than many siblings would have. You were great support for him.
Dad is doing better than I am. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I appreciate your kind words. I know I did what I could, but it never felt like it was enough.

Even when you expect it, the death of a loved one is hard to deal with. My thoughts are with you and your family.
It's not easy. I've been dealing with dad and all the after stuff, so i don't feel like I've had the chance to even grieve yet.

I know you are heart broken about your brother's passing.
You did a wonderful job of seeing to his needs both physically and emotionally.
I hope that you and your family can find healing in the memories you shared with him.
I especially hope that your father can handle not only the loss of his son, but also the loss of his home-mate.
Hugs and prayers for you all,
Marie who loves kitties
It's so weird walking into their apartment and not seeing his smiling face. I miss him terribly.
Dad is doing well. We hired back the aide who took care of my brother. Now I get a little peace while we wait for dad to get into the assisted living place.

beloved and caring sister. My heart weeps with you at this time.
Your brother will forever be with you, and I do hope that soon, the memories will be of the wonderful years and not his years of struggling with the Cancers.
You have my heart, dear forum and FB friend.
SUE
My heart is broken. Although I knew it would happen eventually, I didn't think it was going to happen so soon. It was awful! I'm happy that we fought to let him die at home. The hospice nurse was pressuring my sister to send him to a facility but I wouldn't back down. I knew what he wanted and I wasn't letting him die in a hospital setting.
Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate your friendship.

I am so very sorry. You are in my thoughts. May this Irish blessing be of some comfort.
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields and,
until we meet again, may God hold you in
the palm of his hand.
Take care,
Karen
I love this blessing.

Thank you all!
I appreciate your kind thoughts and words. It has been tough, but life must go on.
Dad is now in a local assisted living where he is enjoying life again. I know it was the right thing for him.
I've been visiting my daughter and her family this past week. I head back up north tomorrow. I will miss my grandson. he's been the light in my eyes these past few weeks.
Now it's time to clear out dad and my brother's apartment. That's going to be tough.
I think of you all often. I pray for a cure for all of you.

Lin, I am happy to know that your dad is handling life well in his new home. That must be a huge blessing and weight off of your shoulders.
May you enjoy the memories that clearing out their home will bring. It would be much easier to be overcome with emotion and depression, but try to look at it as sifting through happy memories. Also, having cleared out my parents home, I know how easy it is to want to keep many, many things. I couldn't, as they were in Engalnd and I here in the States. No bringing it all home possible. It was hard throwing or donating precious 'stuff' that held memories, but now, years down the line, I realize I have the memories even without the physical 'stuff'.
Oh, listen to me, spouting off.
Back to you (and your dad). I pray that you will move forward in joy, with memoires of a wonderful brother, until you are reunited with him again.

It is hard going through his things. I feel like I'm intruding. I have until the end of the month to empty their apartment. I have to start making calls to donate a lot of the big stuff.
The grandbabies keep me smiling. I'd be lost without them. Today is my granddaughter's 3rd birthday and I was able to spend a few hours hanging out with her. Saturday is her party, I can't wait to see the family together.
Dad is making new friends and taking advantage of the bus they have there. He goes to church and shopping with the other folks. He even won at a game of shuffleboard. It's nice to see him smiling.
Thank you for being a good friend. I hope we're able to meet one day. Let me know if you're ever in NY.

Lin. He was lucky to have you for a sister. Peace to your brother, you, and your family.

That means a lot. I find myself second guessing everything I did or advised him to do.
