On my way to wellness!
I started massage therapy at a place which deals in alternative forms of healing. Living in Green Bay, people aren't real receptive to new ideas and as I've probably mentioned (about a million times) my gyno/oncologist is one of them. When I asked him about diet and exercise he said nothing would help. Well, this place has a doctor (MD) on staff and a psychiatrist along with message therapists, accupuncturists, accupressurists, life coaches, dieticians, aromatherapists, fitness coaches and MORE.
I worked with a woman this morning who does cancer massage and auromatherapy. It was great!!! I haven't felt this energetic in a long time. You can pick and choose what you want so I'm going to try a little bit of everything to see what works. If you're in active treatment you have to get a note from your doctor but since I'm not, I can try whatever I liked. Has anyone tried accupuncture for neuropathy???
It's great to be alive!!!
Love,
Eldri

Sounds like a good plan
Eldri sure sounds like a good plan. About the neuropathy I have not tried but can't hurt to try something new. I thought I was going to go through chemo without this happening but low and behold after 5th treatment it started to show up for me only in my left foot. It got worse after 6th and finally treatment and I still have it was wondering when it will finally go away. I did find if I excercise on stationary bike it helps some but still does not go away completely. Funny thing is when I use the treadmill it doesn't do anything for it. Go figure that one out. I thought maybe any type of exercise would help.
Keep us posted on what really does help.

Acupuncture
Hi Eldtri
Sounds like a great plan. As a registered dietitian nutritionist, I would encourage you to also take advantage of the nutrition services. I started acupuncture as soon as I started chemo even though my insurance will not cover it and it's $75/ session. I go to a pain management Center at my local hospital. My oncologist was not too got on it but she has come around. My acupuncureist is also an anethesiologidt. I just started getting some numbness in my toes after chemo #8 and I think my acupuncture is helping. I try to go every week.

Gosh that sounds great.
We have a program in Nebraska but it's more about exercise and nutrition and less about massage, and nothing about accupuncture. I'm sure it will help you because anytime I feel good, my mental immage feels the same and that's double help. Hugs Nancy

HI,
i have read many posets throughout my journey, but haven't posted before. I had a radical hysterectomy on Oct. 5, 2015. Diagnosed with Stage 3A grade 2 endometriod carcinoma. After several years of heavy bleeding and being told it was just fibroids and perimenopause, I started having pelvic pain. Ultrasound done still said fibroids. Was blown of by gyn. For a few more months until I requested referral for embolization. An MRI required for this showed possible malignancy. Went to world renowned clinic on Thursday, in surgery Monday. Never went back to hometown.. Did all treatment at this clinic. Just wanted to share my acupuncture experience.
I also started acupuncture after my second chemo. I totally credit it for keeping me from denveloping neuropathy. A few times I felt like I was getting some symptoms and she would change some sites with the needles and symptoms would go away. Acupuncture also helped to lesson the bone pain I had from taxol. Another thing I made and drank throughout treatment was beet kvass. My treatment was three chemo followed by 25 external radiation, two brachytherapy, and three more chemo. I had no symptoms during radiation. This may not work for everyone, but I continue to drink beet kvass daily. My treatment ended April 29 And my scans at this point are NED.

Congrats on making it to NED! Thank you so much for sharing your story and experiences with acupuncture and beet kvass. It's so interesting to hear how each of us gets through this journey. Kim

I left work early yesterday
I left work early yesterday because I felt so good. I came home and scrubbed our kitchen/dinette floor, laundry room and back foyer floors too. Did two loads of wash and dusted the family room. By last night I was totally beat but had NO neuropathy pain all night - it was wonderful - no having to get up and "walk" the house. I slept straight through until 7:30 this morning. Today I was a little tired and by this afternoon, I was getting pretty drowsy so I came home and took a nap. Hopefully tonight will be another good night!!
Love,
Eldri

Yay!
Glad you had a good day! About time. Can you come to my house? All those things sorely need to be done. But when I feel good, I'm not doing them. I'd rather be doing something else! To your continued good health!

good show
That is a big goal of mine.. to feel like doing the "deep cleaning" on my house. Eldri, you are my hero.. No radiation this weekend maybe I will stay awake long enough to clean. CQ, you are probably the smartest with doing something fun but I swear, I can picture my mother's face if she were to see my house.

Housecleaning
I grew up with an obsessive housecleaning mother. But thankfully she lives 700 miles away and is 83 years old so there's no chance she'll be coming to my house. So as long as the health department doesn't make a visit and the kitchen and bathrooms are fairly clean, I'm fine. So far, can't really get hubby to do much cleaning until it hits critical mass. Let it go, as Elsa says!

Treats
Eldri, the wellness center you found sounds wonderful. Keep going.
CQ, why don't you see if you have that group (Merry Maids, I think) in your area that provides free housecleaning for cancer patients. Even a one time visit would be fantastic. Just think of the luxury of being in a clean house that you had nothing to do with.

Cleaning for a Reason

Im consitering calling
Im consitering calling marrymaids. So far my family has been helping me. My two wonderful kids who have steped up and have been taking care of me and learning how to clean better than they ever have. been doing a lot. My moms been comming over once a week or so since surgery and been doing my dishes as long as the dishes dont have food in them. my kids have had to learn to rinse things out. We are using paper and plastic products to eat with. That helps alot Merry maids might give everyone a break.

Ok, I should proofread my
Ok, I should proofread my comments. There is a dr in our area who uses Lazer for neuropathy. It must be below 85% neuropathy. Has anyone else tried or even heard anything about this? About the cleaning, I have heard we can get free cleaning here, too but I've never tried it. I always have too much of a paper gungle going etc! Oh well, my husband helps a little, but thankfully no Health dept. has visited:)
