Hi Everyone,

 

My mother just got diagnosed today with PPC after being wrongly diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer last week by the Cleveland Clinic. This has been such a roller coaster ride of emotions. We have an appointment with a specialist on Monday at the Cleveland Clinic who will tell us what stage, treatment options, etc.

I am very interested in a 2nd opinion since the Cleveland Clinic (while a fantastic health system) is not a top 10 cancer center. I see a few people on this forum who have went to MD Anderson? I've heard good things? Does anyone know of a great hospital that may specialize in this cancer or have some well known Doctors with experience with PPC? I haven't found much on the internet today on this. My mother lives in Ohio but we are willing to travel anywhere to get the right treatment.

I pray for everyone looking for answers on this forum like my family, and wish everyone hope and healing.

Were you able to get a second opinion for your Mother?  Where did you go?

I have PPC as well (diagnosed July 2014), I have considered the Cleveland Clinic because I lived there previous to my home now in Kentucky.  There is nothing here for me with PPC, however, I have heard MD Anderson is a good choice to consider.

Hi all here,my mother cez 67 n cez jus diagonesed wid stage 3 peritoneal cancer...doctor suggesting surgery and den cheomo..nt v prefered chemo first so.c will b receiving cheomo soon...cn u pls guide me through d after effects of cheomo...

Hi everyone! I am also new here. My cancer was discovered during gall bladder surgery. They call it ovarian cancer, but all my "stuff" was removed over 25 years ago. It was explained to me like this: When you are forming in the womb, the peritoneal and ovarian tissues are the same. So the cancers are treated the same and regularly referred to as ovarian cancer. Seems insurance companies will more readily accept ovarian cancer over peritoneal cancer. Just terms, same cancer. I am stage 3C and currently have a small, slow growing tumor in the peritoneal area. I have been through debulking surgery and have been fighting this for 4 years (I am 58 now). I am also Type 1 diabetic. So the chemo's and steroids usually will push my sugar numbers into the upper 500's. But they get back to normalish within a couple of days. I am not on any special diet except for the diabetes.
You are doing the right thing in keeping your mom's attitude positive and happy. That, I know is a big job, but you are doing it! Hurrah! I have learned to wean all of the negative people out of my life and just surround myself with positive and caring people. It's my life and I choose to do this, for my own mental and physical health. Keep on helping your mom to be happy and positive. This will extend her life more than you know!

my aunt aged 59 also is suffering with ovarian cancer stage 3 C.  Her surgry is scheduled probably on 28.9.2017.  She has no ascites.  I am afraid  How would be the survival rate for ovarian cancer stage 3 C.  I am afraid of statistics shown online.
