Update on my husband
i posted a month ago that he would be starting lonsurf aka tas102. He did one round ( or half a round?...first two weeks out of the month) he was supposed to start again yesterday. his blood counts and calcium tanked. Been going for infusions and transfusions weekly and feeling lousy. Friday he went in for calcium and ended up being admitted with a 102 temp. They spend the weekend drawing blood cultures, trying to find infection. Finally determined tumor fever and all other issues related to cancer progression, his onc said the best chance he has to get the cancer under control is to restart oxaliplatin. He had a reaction so they had stopped it. So she wanted to do desensitization while he was in the hospital. thst happened today, over about 7 hours. No issues. Now is the waiting game to see if it works. He is in so much pain and pretty much out of it from the pain meds.
have to postpone his big 50th birthday party this weekend
This is all so tiring, frustrating and depressing.

So very sorry, Jen
How hard it is for your husband and yourself.
I know what it's like to battle the beast, but not to sit by and watch, and I have to wonder if your part is not as painful, albeit emotionally, thought I bet you can feel physically sick also.
My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Jen, very sorry to hear
Jen, very sorry to hear what's happening. As a wife and a caregiver, I truly understand how you feel. I am actively looking for clinical trials now, because we are running out of options, sometimes it just goes down there muh quicker than what we thought... You and your families are in my prayers. Take care.

Jen, I am so sorry for all that you and your husband are going through. I really hope that you get good news soon and can begin treatment anew.
Everyone should be blessed with a 'Jen' by their side.
hugs,

So sorry
So sorry you are both going through this. It is so hard to watch someone you love suffer, and so frustrating to not be able to do much to help. Please take care of yourself and get as much rest as you can, whenever you can, so you'll have the strength to keep on doing what you have to do for both of you. I hope he is able to go home and that he can enjoy the birthday party, even if it's a little late.

Postponing Birthdays
Hi Jen, we postponed my husband's 60th birthday party until he was done with Folfox. His birthday is in March and we surprised him with a party in December. I'm so glad my kids pushed me to do it. He was so surprised, had a great evening and we got lots of good pictures and videos. Sadly, he passed away within the year so we treasure memories of that evening.
Have a little celebration this weekend wherever he is, I'm sure he will appreciate it. It's tough to see our loved ones suffer so, especially when "treament" makes them worse.

I am so sorry to read this
I am so sorry to read this Jen. It is a horrible disease. Sometimes I can see the toll it is taking on my wife mentally and physically and it makes me cry. I never wanted to hurt her like this. I am sure your husband is feeling the same way. It is so hard on the patient and caregiver/spouse.

oh Jen I am so so sorry for all the suffering both you and husband are enduring. It is beyond me what you caregivers have to endure. Like you Jeff the toll on loved ones makes me cry.
