The speaking assignments are flowing in
OK, I exaggerate; only one more.
I have been asked to speak to a bunch of women at church.
The lady in charge told me what she wanted, and I told her what I would do. HA!
One thing I do want to emphasize, other than the 'GET YOUR COLONOSCOPY IF YOU'RE OVER 50' speech, is don't treat stage IV Cancer patients like they are going to die. This past week, a man from church gave me a book about death and the after-life. Its like 'Excuse me! I don't know anyone whose about to die'.
I know the intention is good, but in my opinion it is misplaced. I know the stats, I know they are stacked against me, but I also know I'm a fighter and I don't want none of this 'Oh, I'm so sorry' and that awful look in their eyes, like your going to drop dead any minute.
OK, now I'm ranting. Sorry! I guess I'm a bit rattled about this book thing.
I am excited to give another presentation though. I'll get the word out, and maybe save someone from a Stage IV diagnosis.

That's great!
I'm sure you do a great job (and I'm betting people enjoy your accent).
On the topic of acting like a person with stage 4 is going to die, my SIL visited me a few days after I got my original dx and asked what was on my "bucket list". I felt like asking her what was on her list, as I was on the verge of doing her in!

I too have experienced alot
I too have experienced alot of dismal comments about my stage 4 colon cancer going to the liver. Its like people have zero cooth when they are talking to a cancer patient ; its almost disrespectful in my estimation. 'Friends' choose to stay away as if you were a Leper. Maybe its because they dont know what to say or do , or maybe its that they dont want to get too close relationally to you since 'youre not going to be around much longer' . Who knows. Its been a rude awakening for me on various levels . Im glad i have a deep close relationship with Christ who gives me comfort, strength , hope, and a firm realization of his immense love for me. I dont know how people manage without God being a big part of the equation.

Thank you for spreading the word!
The more people who get colonoscopies, the better their chance of catching cancer early.
I never treat my brother as if he's going to die. Why would someone do that? I keep encouraging him and telling him that none of us know our date of expiration, so just keep on going. We don't know if tomorrow is the cure, or if a new chemo med will work for one person over another. I'm just counting my blessings for each day I have my brother here with us.
Today he gets to meet my 5 month old grandson for the first time. My daughter, SIL, and grandson flew up here to visit family and friends. My dad and brother are going to be surprised. There's always something to look forward to, so you gotta just keep on truckin!

Awesome Sue. You are right
Awesome Sue. You are right about the man giving you the book. You should have told him we are all going to die one day
