Following is an update from Eileen's husband that their daughter put on Facebook.  She asked that it be forwarded to the group.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Eileen appears to be rapidly declining though she is not in any pain and is not nauseated or vomiting and she is not wanting or taking any pills - she is more and more disoriented and is sleeping almost all of the time. When she is up she appears to be very comfortable and happy but often mumbles or says things that make no sense.

We are officially registered with hospice and they are delivering a hospital bed this afternoon (last night about 3:00 am Eileen fell... out of bed knocking over her IV medications stand and it was very scary and difficult for me to handle so obviously a hospital bed is required).

Now that we are on hospice we can get some better/stronger prescriptions to help calm her down because she tends to get restless and uncooperative and more confused late at night.

She can still receive her scheduled chemo on December 2nd if she is strong enough to make it to the Cancer Center.

Eileen's wish is to be cremated after death and to donate her body before cremation for cancer research or to the LSU medical school and my plan is to honor her wish.

Hospice says of course that she may recover which is fine or she may stay like this for some time even possibly months or she may pass quickly. No one can tell but being on hospice will not interfere with any possibility of recovery.

Eileen's other wish is not to perform any life sustaining procedures, including intravenous feeding (nutrition or fluids through an IV tube) so I have removed her from her TPN and antibiotics.

I (we) do not have any funeral plans or arrangements or any religious plans or arrangements though the hospice social worker recommends that I contact a funeral home for help with any initial activities such as contacting the coroner and transportation of Eileen's body in the event of her death.

Don't really know what else to say at this time except that I am getting plenty of help and support and food and that this text is very difficult to compose and calling and talking about this is impossible at this time.

Love from both of us.

    Heart broken...

Eileen has been a true role model to me, following her on Facebook has taught me some valuable lessions on how to handle this journey none of us ever wanted. I keep her close in my heart and prayers every night. She's a true warrior, battling right to the end. My heart aches for her family right now...

    Breaking

I, and I am sure many others, are breaking with this update.  My mentor for over 10 years is still teaching us lessons we never wished to learn.  She is a treasure to be sure and forever in my heart on this journey.

I am so saddened to hear

I am so saddened to hear this. My heart and prayers go out to her and her family.  She is a special woman and filled the void left by Chen beautifully.  I have always admired her and this news is so hard to hear.

    A special woman

I have always, always, always been inspired by Eileen's journey.  And I still am. . . She is indeed a special woman who will remain in my heart forever.

    Heart wrenching

I am so torn up by this news. She is just so strong and such a fighter that this never seemed possible. I am sending my thoughts to her family and am hoping that she will rally and laugh all the way to her next chemo in December.

    checking in

Hello ladies.. I am so sorry to learn of this recent turn of events.. I am usually on the uterine or ovarian boards but I do check in here once and while.. Eileen strikes me as such a wonderful person, strong, stoic, always the voice of wisdom and practicality. She is obviously much loved and respected at home, and on these boards. I am happy to read that she does not seem to be in pain or nauseated... Keeping her and her family and all of you in my thoughts..

    Thank you, Jean...

    Beyond heartbroken...

Eileen is quite special. Caring, smart, wonderful sense of humor - inspiring.

If there is even the tiniest shred of a chance that she could rally (our CC often joked she has more lives than a cat), I'm hanging on to it very tightly.

As I have been, am keeping hopeful thoughts for her within my heart.

    Kind regards, Susan

A Song for our dear Sister

This past Sunday 11/16/14, I sang this song with my choir. It has such meaning. I felt like we were singing to the Angels, now I know I was singing for our deasrest CC. You can find this song on youtube, if you want to listen to something that will move you heart in a special way.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_v451HFIk8

    Make My Life an Alleluia

Make my life an alleluia, a song of praise to You each day.

To proclaim Your grace and glory,

fill my heart with your praise, I pray.

When I stand at the mountaintop, or the valley of despair,

This will be my cry, my song, my prayer,

Lord, make my life an alleluia.

Make my life an alleluia, a gift of love to You, my King.

I will join with all creation in the song that the heavens sing!

The earth will turn, and the planets spin,

    as the seasons ebb and flow;

Still, Your grace surrounds me as I go.

Lord, make my life an alleluia.

Make my life an alleluia, this offering of myself I give to You.

I will share Your grace and mercy for as long as I shall live.

When I come to my journey's end,

may those left behind be reminded,

This has been my cry, my song, my prayer:

Lord, make my life an alleluia.

    Devastated

I figured something was terribly wrong but I was hoping it was the side effects.  Eileen has always showed her wisdom on this board.

Just hope things turn around and she will be back postings.

To her husband and daughter, thank you for letting us know and please give a huge hug from me to Eileen.

    Our Bravest Pink Warrior

I saw this post and tears just started running down my face. Eileen has fought the battle for SO long. She has always been an amazing source of information and support and inspiration to all of us on  this discussion  board. May she find peace.
