Very grateful for your support. This is very scary and we have felt very alone. Not looking forward to telling our 16yr old daughter the latest news when she comes home from school today but no point trying to hide it she reads us too well now. Hugs xox

Hi,
I am so sorry to hear this news, I know what an almighty jolt this has given you. Having had my surgery last year; I received similar news a few months later. It certainly leaves you feeling crushed, scared, and in a sort of limbo. The main thing is to have a plan of action that you are comfortable with to focus on. Are you seeing an Oncologist? Try and stay positive and think only of beating this not it beating you!
I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks Djinnie. We will be ok once we get over the shock. Was just a bit bigger than we expected really. Will be a meeting late next week where they work out whats next .I think we will finally be referred to oncologist for sutent or maybe more surgery if possible. Phred will be having a bone scan too. Hopefully this will jolt hospital into action. Its been 3 weeks since scan so who knows how big the dratted thing is now. Thanks for your prayers. xoxo

and fast growing. Unless of course it might be a hematoma they are looking at. Wouldn't that be better?

Maybe, I was kinda hoping it was a cotton ball or something they left in after the op and thats why we cant see the scan. Or he could be pregnant?

Hi Sindy. We think waiting for them to do anything...or not is the hardest part. Phred is getting a bit discouraged. Will try to take him out for a nice coffee today. Weather is very dismal and grey here. Enjoy your summer!
Thanks for your prayers xox

My first CT scan six months after my nephrectomy showed a new tumor in the location of my removed kidney, almost 5 cm. They were planning on putting me on Sutent to shrink the tumor and talked about the possibility of a trial. But I had a biopsy first. It was a large hematoma. That was back in 2011. I still have it, thought it's now about 2cm and it won't shrink anymore, I am told, as it's all scar tissue now. I truly hope this is Phred's case as well. God Bless.

Thanks Rae rae. I so wish that that is the case with Phred. Hes having a bone scan on Friday because hes having a bit of back pain. I know that it is quite likely to return as a met because of his sarcomatoid and rhabdoid morphology. They say it is a 4.4x4.4cm soft tissue mass consistent with local recurrence. Finally got copy of the scan report after lots of hassle. Thanks for all your prayers. Phred feels a bit better now he has the information. Take care.

If it is growing next to the staples then maybe it is a hematoma. Which they say, they really can't always tell the difference. How is your blood count? Sometimes the count is a little low if it is a clot, but not always. When my mom had her kidney removed, they told her she had two new mets also, turned out they were clots and went away about a year later, took a long time.. but the body resolved it. All the best to you

Thankyou angec. Hope it is a hematoma. We went to hospital today and Phred had a bone scan. Apparently they are booking us a ct scan very early next week with a view to deciding if more surgery is an option. He also has a few nodes of questionable significance in his abdomen. Otherwise sutent may be an option. They seem to be taking it all a lot quicker now. Thank goodness!

We are all praying for the best outcome for Phred, all the best with the CT next week. I am glad to hear that someone has added some rocket fuel to the proceedings!
Thinking of you:)

Thanks b1. Bone scan came back fine apart from arthritis in his shoulders. Awaiting ct scan no.2 results. He had it on Saturday. His pain levels are increasing so pretty sure this tumour has grown more since the last scan 2 months ago. Hopefully they will try to operate soon. Got appt card in mail on Friday for a month from today to see urologist handling his case which seems ridiculous so hope it was a mistake. Radiation isn't possible now.
Take care, Melissa
