in Head and Neck Cancer #1

I've been away from the boards for awhile - not with any health issue - but working on our move

We moved to Florida!!!  Out of the bitter cold and snow of upstate NY to the sun and warmth of central Florida!  We're still settling in, so much to unpack and put away plus waiting for the various utilities to connect.  We finally got Internet yesterday and it is so nice to be able to rejoin my H&N family.

It's my second anniversary diagnosis wise (HPV+ BOT stage IVa - induction chemo, 33 rads w chemo and 2 neck dissections) and am feeling great!  No pain, no discomfort, saliva is around 90%, I can eat just about anything - I had potato chips the othe day and it was magical!  I have to be careful of the sun, I put on the zillion SPF sunblock every morning before I venture out to work but it is a small consequence to have my life. 

I have a PET coming up later this month but at this point there are no worries or scanxiety, my last appt with my ENT pronounced all tissues and structures normal, so NED continues.

I'm grateful to my medical team, my wife and children, friends, family and my head and neck extended family for all of their support and caring.

It can and does get better every day!

    Glad to hear you are doing well and moved to a warm state but beware of hurricanes. Life is great even after treatment just waking up and looking at my ceiling tells me I am alive for one more day.

    Congratulations on the NED, the time post, the recovery, the move to Florida and the nice weather that goes along with it. 

    When scanxiety comes up I will steer people your way.

    peter, congrats on the move and ned.  i hope you will be all settled and ready to start enjoying your new home and warm weather soon.  glad you were able to enjoy potato chips and hope many more foods will come into play for you.  praying for a clean scan for you.  let us know when you get the good news so we can do the happy dance with you!  thanks for posting, it was good to hear from you.

    Winter Garden

    seems fitting, to move from the great white north to sunny Florida and live in a place with winter in its name!

    Oddly enough, I work our of one of my companies offices in Lakeland!

    I would love to move from Ohio, this winter has been brutal, and it's trying to steal some of our spring..glad you're doing so well, enjoy your new home, and continued blessings to you & your family

    Hey Peter!!

    We're in the same timeframe.....the same bus :).  I am SO jealous you got to move to Fl.....getting out of the cold has to put a person's head space in a positive place. 

    Sending positive vibes and prayers on your upcoming scan.....

    Put the brakes on...

    I hear there is this thing called global warming. Saty put and you will be basking in the 70s while those having a good laugh down south will be burning up. lol
