I had my colonoscopy this morning and all is well.  I am still somewhat groggy from the anesthesia, so I'm going to bed!

    Thank you all!

I am finally awake, well, sort of, thanks to a phone call.  I decided to get up and try to accomplish something today other than sleep.  I'm having a cup of half-caf right now to help!

Thank you!  As for how long until the next one, per me, it's going to be a very long time!  My CR doc told me she does c-scopes annually on all of her anal cancer patients for 5 years.  Well, this was #5 for me, so I'm done for as long as I believe it's appropriate to not put myself through this again or I'm having no symptoms.  Colonoscopies are not part of the recommendations for follow-up in anal cancer, so I am now bowing to this anymore.  I have a feeling sometimes that it amounts to "scoping for dollars."  She probably found several hundred dollars up there today.  Surprised  The hospital got a nice chunk of change too.

    Glad to hear

Glad to hear all went well ! You deserve to take it easy today, the prep alone the day before is enough to wear you out, hope you are back in action soon

Thank you so much!  You're right, the prep is exhausting.  I did things a little different this time.  I took 2 Ducolax the day before prep day and got things "moving" ahead of schedule.  I also did not any meat for almost a week prior to the scope and ate a low fiber/low residue diet for two days prior to prep day.  I think it made things easier.

I wanted to let you know since you are attending the seminar at MSK that a woman on another site that I'm on is attending also.  Her name is Jane.  I realize you won't know what she looks like, but I thought if they request that people wear those nice little name tags as they often do at seminars, you just might see her  Smile.  She is currently getting chemo for treatment of mets.  If, by chance, you happen to cross paths, please tell her Martha from the blog said hello.  Thanks!

    Congrats Martha!

So glad you got good results! Congrats on getting off the 5 year "treadmill" of Dr. appointments, colonoscopies, scans, anoscopes..... I too wonder about how much of this is really necessary and how much is just making money off of  all of us..... But everytime I get a scan and it's clear it makes me feel pretty good.

    Great news!

So glad everything is fine! Especially liked your comment "scoping for dollars". Lol! The anesthesiaologist (sp) charged more than my colorectal doctor, but the biggest charge was the hospital. Thanks for being an inspiration to us all!

Glad to hear that your prep made things easier, thanks for sharing the info, always great to get some new tips . As for Jane, I would love to meet her, and by all means you can share with her to look for Lisa if we have those little name tags. I have an appt earlier that day so I won't have any internet once I leave home but I will check in before I leave.

Thank you!  You are very sweet.  I do think I've reached the point (5 years) where I've become somewhat skeptical of the need for so much follow-up testing.  My hospital is obviously money hungry and now that they have absorbed a lot of physicians' practices into their system, they are going for the gold.  Luckily, they didn't find any "nuggets" up my tailpipe, only dollar bills!  LOL!  This was my last colonoscopy for a very long time, by my choice, not the doctor's, I'm sure.

I am fine, my 4 year mark for anal cancer was 6-30-09 and so far so good.  My next yearly scan for the lung cancer is this November, whereas, I had vats on 9-23-10 for the removal of my lower right lobe, and so far so good there also.  Thank you for asking.  I will post my November scan results, I feel fine so hopfully that will be the indication that everything is fine. I'm very happy to hear you are doing well!  I hope that your scan in November will show that you are still hangin' with NED!  I am sending you all positive vibes!
