Last treatment!!!
Had my last treatment this week. Got unhooked on Friday and feeling pretty good today. I was really nervous about this last treatment because #11 kicked my butt big time! Now I have to get a CAT scan on Thursday and praying that I come back NED. This has been a great forum for me to connect with other people going thru the same thing and I have really enjoyed meeting all of you. I'll still be around on the forum checking in. But for now, asking for prayers that my CAT scan comes out clean. Thank you.

YES!!
I was wondering how your last treatment went!! So happy for you!
You were always so positive and uplifting. I remember when you had your first few treatments...you had thought you'd be feeling better. What I didn't want to tell you was that you were probably going to feel worse until you completed all your treatments. I checked in on you to see you plugging away and continuing to go to work for a long time. Strong lady!
NOW...you will start feeling better. Celebrate! Hoping you will have a clear scan!!

I can't believe this 6Deena,
I can't believe this 6 months has gone by. It seems like a lifetime! I will be going back to work on the 29th and actually am looking forward to it and trying to get back to some normalcy. I'm going to Alabama in a few weeks for my 35 year reunion and the weekend after having a huge celebration with just the girls. Can't wait!!

So glad you are going on a trip with the girls and to your 35 year reunion. Have fun and celebrate!!
When I was a month away from my last chemo, I was having a particularly bad day. My boyfriend was visiting me and I just kept breaking down in tears. I even said, "I'm not sure I can get through this". He looked me in the eyes and told me I WOULD get through it. He told me he would take me to the Caribbean once I finished with chemo. I spent the last month in treatment dreaming of being on the beach and listening to the ocean waves. It really gave me something to look forward to. I finished chemo last September and we went to Curacao in January.
Cheers to you!!

I hope everything is gone gone gone and that you never have to post on this board ever again! Best of luck to you
It's been fun having you post on the board but while I've enjoyed your "company", I hope you don't have a reason to stay with us!
all the best to you

12 rounds is quite an effort.
12 rounds is quite an effort. Congratulations.
If you had no scans for the last 6 months, I would have raised a fuss about that. You can usually tell after 2 months, sometimes even less if the treatment is working. I made the mistake of waiting even 3 months for my first scan.
At the moment I have an MRI every month. You should not do that with CAT scans due to the radiation, unfortunatelly most oncologists will push you to have a CAT instead of MRI and they have a whole bunch of excuses why you should go CAT. When I pushed my oncologist, he eventually admitted that it was more to do with hospital policy as CATs are quick and cheap compared to mri and less of a waiting list. For tracking progress of existing tumours, MRI does the job quite well.
As far as being NED after chemo, I wish you luck, but as chemo is generally not curative, it would be like winning the lottery. Fortunatelly people win lottery all the time so will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks Ren, for that info. I think I shall request an MRI when I have my next scan, and continue to do so. I have wondered which scan was better...

My onc had scheduled me for a PET scan but insurance denied it so now we're doing the CT scan. I was so annoyed by that because I've heard a PET scan shows a lot more than the CT. So after I get the results from the CT, I'm going to pressure my onc to get a PET scan. I just want to be sure.

MRI of abdomen/pelvis is roughly 2-hours for test....one hour each with and without contrast...
If really closed in tight spaces don't bother you keep this time frame in mind....it gets really warm in there too.....not roomy like ct donout or pet scanner.
AND that time does not include the chest scan with and w/o either.
Just wanted you to be aware of this:)

PETs are to measure glucose uptake of suspicious masses found by cts.
Insurance usually denies (as they did) a PET scan without first having a ct scan report that substantiates need doe a pet.....it costs alot more and insurance does not green light those like cts.
